i'm trying to decide between this lens and the 24 1.4L. i am switching to primes only and i hate my 17-55IS. so any info you can give on this lens would be appreciated or of course on the 24 as well.

thanks!

anyone?
Johnny
Hey Tami - I've used this lens before.
It is really nice, sharp and has really great close focusing.
Filters (if you use them) can only be used in the back of the lens.

Here is a link to the last images I shot with it.
(I sold off my Canon gear to go back to Nikon)

Mouse over any image and the exif data will pop in from the left side.
You can pretty much tell which images I used the 14mm on.
I was also using my 5D - so the perspective is wonderful on a FF.

Feel free to ask me anything further. thumbsup.gif

Hey there johnny did you use any distortion correction for the 14mm? Or is the distoration alleviated a bit on the full frame?

Even though it is a rectilinear lens (corrected for distortion), there is still some distortion with this lens, especially towards the edges (on a FF body) - not nearly as pronounced as a 'fish eye' though. But I did not use any software correction at all.

I think if it were used on a cropped sensor you would notice less distortion.

Alrighty that makes sense. I figured the larger field of view might help hide the distortion, but that is counter intuitive. Thanks!
