My last shoot of 2007, and I got a new 60"inch umbrella to play with for the last part of the evening. I love how this really spreads out the light. There are always more on my blog if you want to see. I used the Nikon D200, with and off camera SB800 attached to the umbrella and 1/4 power. I have to do more, the results are much better than a direct flash.

Nice pics Ross! You have to love the 60” umbrella—gives good even coverage from head-to-toe…

cool, i had a 60" too and loved the way it covered the scene with even light...is it a convertible umbrella? the kind where you can take the black off and shoot through the white? Those are cool too.

It was really hard for me to use it cause it was just so big and intimidating for the couples...plus the wind kept knocking it over...how do you manage?

it wasn't a convertilbe umbrella, but I did have my eye on that one. The couple seemed right at home with it, even though it was big. We got lucky that there was no wind, because the top of my stand is lose, and if there was the slightest wind it would of roll around. So my next thing is to get a new stand and maybe a small weighted bag to hold it down, because we do have some good wind out here, and I have run into that problem before.

The is almost the exact setup that I use, except I have a 30D and a 60" convertible umbrella. I don't use it for every shot, but I love to do a few experiments at every session smile.gif
