Hey gang! Just got a shiny new Think Tank Airport security bag from santa (aka my most amazing hubby). So I don't like the way they have it packed on the web site bc. I want to have one body loaded and ready with my 24-70 on it as well as one or two other bodies and various lenses and flashes. The possibilities are endless with this thing. Would love to see some pictures of how everyone packs their bags. It doesn't have to be the same bag I have. Just would love to see how everyone likes to pack. cheers!

I'd like to see some samples myself, I didnt even know this bag existed... If I can find a way to keep a lens on one or two Cameras and put them in the bag, I'd seriously consider buying this!

I find bags like that just take time to get used to. I had a big backpack and it took me about a month to come up with a setup i liked. Just sit and play with it. What might help is to take out most of the dividers, and just put stuff where you think you would want it. And add the dividers back in. I kinda did that with my pelican.

Congratulations Sarah, that is an awesome bag and has been backordered for months so your hubby was really looking out for you.

I have the International (because I called about 35 places around the country for a sold out Security bag) which is a little smaller, and just bought the Security bag when they notified me that it had become available.

I spent about 4-5 hrs one night arranging mine but it was so worth the time. Every inch is accounted for and easily accessed.

ThinkTank products are the best!

If I get a chance I will take a pic for you later. I'm sure ThinkTank would love it too.

Some may have known this was coming... wink.gif

Great post Sarah, put up some pics when you figure it out. How the heck did your hubby find one of those? There hasn't been a peep from TT for months and months.

Frank, are you telling me you got one too?

haha
Well I mean this is how I have been carrying my gear around. My back just gave out the last wedding I shot so I guess my husband figured it was time for an upgrade. haha

Looking forward to seeing some pictures... I'll take one of mine too.. I attempted to pack it up last night, I'm sure it is subject to change but I'll take one later tonight and post for others who are interested.

I have no idea how he pulled it off. I think he may have super powers.

Yes, I got mine last week Nate. They are shipping, but only to people that were on the mailing list from a long time ago. That was why I said her hubby really was looking out for her.

Size difference- looks pretty much like the International bag would just about fit inside the Security bag. You can stand a 70-200 up in the Security bag if you want, but not in the International.

Here is a pic of my international bag loaded minus my CP E3 Battery Pac which usually sits right on top of the 70-200.

There is a TON more stuff in the lid of the bag. Which by the way is the only flaw in the bag because it opens long way, instead of on the short side (you can see how it is open in the left of the image). So it flips to the side as opposed to flipping up to open. This is sometimes a problem when working out of a trunk, or side by side with a bunch of photographers. The bag is hands down the best though, all of their products are fabulous! There is a lot of gear in this bag though, and it will go on an international flight.

Nate, that SB24 is in their for you and Johnny buddy. I almost sold it and then I was like why? It is an awesome strobe to slave off of the 580's.

This is a small soft pelican case normal airplane carry on size. The outer compartments have little AA battery slot holders and lots of zipper pockets for stuff and a key holder too. It also has a laptop pouch but this is how I pack my gear.

I keep the Nikon D300 with a 17-55 always on and I can pop it out quick. The 70-200 VR is on a D200 also ready to go. Two SB-800's a 60mm macro and 10.5DX fisheye and a 50 1.4 I never use under the diffusers. My D3 is on the way with the 24-70 to replace the 17-55 and I will have to redesign the bag or maybe get another one. I use the boda with this sometimes too.

Frank, just curious... I normally see people put their bodies on the top of the bag to further isolate them from bumps and thumps while wheeling. Have you ever given that any thought?

I just bought an Airport Security. I was on the Think Tank waiting list and could have bought one through them (despite signing up rather late), but I wanted to support my local camera shop. Turns out, some of the people on their waiting list bailed out and I got the last one. So for those of you still looking, call every local shop on Think Tank's site (or Think Tank directly) and you just might snag one. I think they were backordered since last Spring.

Good point Matt!
I will consider that again with the Security bag. I tried it with the international but it took up too much of the bag.
I wasn't thinking about the extra stress though. That is a great suggestion, and I think it makes a lot of sense.

LOL! Nice labels Frank. tongue.gif

Picture several camera bodies, several lenses, reflectors, a belt rig, and other random bits of gear...... dumped aimlessly through a hatch-back. Bingo. That's me all the way. I try to park as close as possible. biggrin.gif

Seriously, I pack similar to Frank when I travel. Realize the most efficient "travel packing" probably isn't the most shoot ready. I just accept I'll have to assemble one or two camera bodies when I arrive - which only takes 10 seconds. With that in mind it's easier to find a place for everything. A big thing with security - pack your bag in a way that expensive stuff is least likely to fall out when opened. Put cheap small stuff on top of expensive stuff - so if your bag must be opened by a hurried security screener, your 70-200 perched right on top doesn't clunk to the floor.

My bag (a while back ... I traded out my Mk II for a III and a new 85 1.2 and 50 1.2) ...

Jules Bianchi's bag ...

Jessica Claire's bag ...

Becker's retort to Jessica ...

and my favorite, John Michael Cooper's bag ... and a deer light.

Thank you so much for posting this!!!!!!!!

2 bodies, 6 lenses, flash, pocket wizards in the main bag. everything else in the wee pouches on the side. If I could find the body caps for the cameras, I wouldn't have to attach the lenses, which would save a lot of space smile.gif
Frank DiMeo
Am I the only one that can't see Dane's vids?

theGreatDivorce
I can see them? What browser are you using, Frank?
Frank DiMeo
Safari Ryan.
It is just white blocks.
I never had a problem before.

I will see what happens on Firefox
calgal
Try Firefox guys - works here. biggrin.gif

I saw them on Firefox. Awesome Dane, thanks!
Please remind me to never let John Michael Cooper borrow any equipment smile.gif
Was that sick or what?

It is interesting to see the different personalities.

Also neat to see the arsenal people choose.

That swing camera Jules has is da bomb.
chetbell
Yeah, John's clip was hilarious! I guess D2x's can put up with quite a bit! haha
