Ok guys,
So I got a new Epson Pro 3800 printer not to long ago and I'm still learning the ropes with it. Anyways, I've never done a canvas print until now. Maybe I get the dummy award blink.gif , but I need to know how to input the ICC profile of the canvas that I have into the printer.
In other words, I need to be able to tell the printer what type of canvas I have and what it is to be printed on. I have the ICC profile number that I need (got that from my Epson dealer) but I don't know exactly how I need to select it. Obviously I don't know the step to do this quite yet. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated! (working on a Mac platform if that helps....)

Thanks,
RK

what program are you printing from? Lightroom/photoshop/other?

just tell the print driver the paper, turn off color management, and in your printing software input the .icc profile

I was printing straight from Photoshop. I turn off the color management in the printer driver since I'm using the sRGB settings from Photoshop.
Well I think that I have things going now. The problem was that I was trying to print on some canvas and there was no way to tell the printer was type of media I was using. So I got in touch with the tech line at Epson and was told to use the Watercolor paper - radiant white setting. So far this has been working good for me. Thanks for looking out for me! ha ha!

Hey Robbin,

Back when I did all my own printing I set up custom ICC profiles using my Monitor Spyder and Print Fix. I was able to create my own Canvas profiles this way. The new Epsons are really good out of the box. And depending on the canvas you're using, WC Radiant White will get you close. I found that using Luster setting with a glossy canvas (Premier Art Water Resistant Canvas) plus my own profile gave me the BEST looking canvases.

I also spent some time over at InkJetArt learning as much as I could.
And you may want to start getting your ink from ITsupplies.com - from what I found, they have the best prices on ink. And if you're a customer long enough, you can usually grease additional deals with the sales folks.

*eta* The Eco-Print Sheild from Premier Art is awesome! Looks soooo good on the canvas prints.

Hey there Mike! Good to see you too! Having a 5 month old baby boy has definitely been quite the schedule change for me! laughing.gif I'm still here looking and reading, just haven't had the time to post that much!

Johnny, thanks for those links man! That's just the info for stuff that I'm looking for. It's nice to be able to print something on the spot when I actually have a nice printer now! Just trying to get everything down and make the ol' workflow faster! I'm not trying to fulfill print orders or anything like that, just like to make some fine art and canvas for clients every once in awhile. Can I come by to get a crash course from you?? ha ha ha! Never mind, your "neck of the woods" is way to cold for a southern boy like me!

Hey, I might just take you up on the email questions! Like late at night when I'm pulling my hair out because I just screwed up a 16x20 canvas print! ha!

Yeah, when it gets below 55 degrees here, I start complaining! laughing.gif

Sure! I'm usually up anyway.
And believe me, I've messed up my fair share of canvases... rolleyes.gif

Oh, and 55 is PERFECT for me! biggrin.gif
