Which other culture would you choose to be born into?
Chris Uglanica

Italian.
Big families, lots of heritage, great food and wine, tightly knit from my experience.

Japanese. Then I would know more about the ideals of my husband...
Although the chances that I would have become a Christian are then very slim

Maybe I am just glad to be an American!

Gosh, I was born into a good mix, so I've never give that much though. I'm Danish (2nd generation) and Black so ummm.. this one is hard.
Maybe, just maybe Austrailian. They're so laid back (in my experience) and cool.

The Flamenco music....the dance.......all very passionate and

I've always been super interested in tribal culture. I think they are very interesting in their way of life. But, I am very happy where I am. Don't think I would want to be anything else. Besides, I married a German, so that gives me a little something different, right?

Hispanic definitely.....of course I spent my entire life in Latin America so, that could be part of the reason. I love the way that families are so important to them. And when they get together it's this huge group of people that are loud, and laughing and have the best food.

American. Definitely. I grew up in Japan. Loved it when I came to the states for College. Not that Japan was bad at all, I just like it much more here. I never felt like I fit in anywhere. And I was kind of weird even without all the "third culture kid" stuff going on. People tell me I'm still weird, but it's a bit more accepted, now, because, you know, I'm an AHHHHHTIST.

Israeli.
Since my own religion(Christianity) is rooted in Judaism, I would have liked to have a better understanding of the culture and traditions. Israel and the Hebrew are also the only country and language to have been completely wiped out and then reborn after 1900 years.
Israel is also the intersection of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. I can't wait to go there someday.

Right on, Monica!!
Greek for me.
Only because it's a total toss up between so many (most of which are already in my blood)....Italian and Spanish are also high on my list...but I feel more aquainted with those (lived in Spain, and my sis married into a Sicilian family so my family has already, like, trippled and I grew up working w/those crazy italians... yeah, people used to ask "is your family the moffia??"

).

so we were headed up the hill and with the Greecians running after us....
and they asked me to hold out my hand and one of them put a tiny blue glass bead in it - it looks like an eye - a blue eye with a wierd little orange thing attached... and pointed to my eyes then back to the bead....back and forth, back and forth... couldn't understand a WORD they were saying at first.... (but that didn't really matter, now did it!?

and then they told us the story behind it....

that Ouzo...the licorice liquer from Greece.... was originally produced with Opium in it??
well, that didn't work out to well (they outlawed it) so the stuff that comes to the Americas and most of Europe is Opium-free now. (too much trivia from bartending days...lol).... Apparently, there are places in Greece where they still have the Original Ouzo. .....so the one Greek hottie who spoke the best english took me aside and told me the story of the beautiful maiden with the long long hair and the bright blue eyes....
She was beautiful but very jealous and envious of the queen Athena (or another greek godess that starts with an A that I can't think of the name it was so long ago). The maiden thought SHE should be queen because she thought SHE was more beautiful. A spell was cast on the maiden and her hair turned to lashing serpents, her eyes blue glass.... everything the maiden looked at would turn to stone. Men and animals and creatures all around her...stone!! The evil spell could not be broken. The maiden was forever in dispair....

But I thought the reason Athena turned Medusa's hair into snakes (actually I think she was turned into a Gorgon) was because Athena and Poseidon were "getting it on" in Athena's house.

Yes, Jim, I admit I was intrigued after that encounter in Athens that hot summer day.... and I discovered the story does sound A LOT like the story of Medusa...I think it is one in the same! There is art that depicts Medusa being ugly and evil but other pieces that show her hair waving wildly like the serpants but her face is filled with sorrow and dispair.
