so i feel like i just stepped out of the dark ages, and bought my first laptop, a 17" powerbook (this only comes a few months after the purchase of my first mac, which i still have, the new 24" iMac), and now i would like to set up my home on a wireless network.
i currently have time warner for my internet/cable and am assuming that i just need to purchase a wireless router to set up a wireless network in my home... right? are all routers created equal? any advice...

we've had good success with the Netgear Rangemax (amazing range for wireless G), but needed a gigabit connection for a server, so we switched to the Apple Airport Extreme. Great great router, you can even plug a usb printer or hard drive directly into it (has ethernet and usb connections).

Use caution with wireless routers when you own a MAC make sure they are MAC compatible. Many routers from Linksys are not as I have recently found out. I purchased the following recently from D-Link. Make sure you read the system requirements.

cool! i was wondering about that... so "airport" IS a router and i could use that in-lieu of linksys, or netgear, etc...?

I'm curious to know why they are on clearance AND still being sold at full price when they are the same routers?? Hmmmmmm.....
