"In this life we are meant to dream big, and always be reaching higher. Plateauing should never be an option." - Alyssa Barlow

If you've read any of John Maxwell's books you'll see that Maxwell defines success as a journey not a destination because we can always accomplish at least one more thing and we can always be "reaching higher" and helping to raise others up.

How many of you have found that you are like me in that you dream too small!?!

Not recently, after cutting back my courses in college to pursue a few companies that I own or run I have been more ambitious than ever. I have the biggest goals possible and a few years left to keep the profits growing (before I get too old and retire laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif).

Big dreams come and go with me, I just could not picture myself working 9 to 5 in an engineering firm until I retired so I decided to try something fun knowing that I could always go back to get a degree if things didn't work out. It took a lot of thought to decide to make the move (hence some of my earlier stressed out posts) but I am doing everything that strikes me as interesting without reservation.

Awesome quote!!!
Who is this Alyssa Barlow person?? blink.gif wink.gif

Sometimes I like to just sit down and think of the biggest things that I could possibly do and then write them down...what would change the world?? What would impact people's lives?? I could JUST be a great photographer or I could do and be soooooo much more! I LOVE to dream!!
I've always dreamed really big(sometimes too big huh.gif ) But that is really what God loves!!
Ephesians 3:20
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
So God is able to do more than we can even have the capacity to dream!!!
That is sooooo awesome!!
So really no dream is too big! cool.gif

I agree. clap.gif I think He is sitting up there smiling and DARING us to dream bigger. hehe. something about this is humorous to me.... but isn't it awesome!?

It IS so awesome that we can't even begin to comprehend how much He can do with with what we dream...I feel like my brain is way to tiny and will explode if I even try to start... and it's sad that we often put our dreams to rest before they can take flight... mostly from fear or not feeling equipt. That's why one of my favorite mantras is "do something every day that scares you"....

Thanks for sharing!!

*off to go put BHAG-brainstorming on my to-do list*

Sarah...I agree with Liana. I mean...look at where God has and is taking you.

Like I've said a gazillion times before...I am just soooo proud of you! I talk about you all the time to my friends/brides...everyone. I tell them of how talented you are and encourage them to visit your site. The always say, "And she's only HOW OLD?!!!" smile.gif

You make me such a proud big sis! I just love you to pieces girl!!!

I don't know if I dream too small or don't believe in myself. I am a perfectionist and I never feel like I can do good enough.

I totally agree smile.gif I was homeschooled my whole life, and if I have any children I hope to homeschool them as well. If anyone has children you should definitely look into it.
Michelle Ross
I was homeschooled until 6th grade- and also given a bit of quirkiness and artistic flair was a little self-described "socially impaired". I grew out of it, but totally was intrigued by social workings and people's relationships and such (helps my dad was a psychology major).

It's totally natural I grew into photojournalism. I like to hide behind the camera sometimes because I'm uncomfortable around people, don't know the right thing to say, etc. That's just me though, it's not because of homeschooling.

I think it's a great idea, but we are probably going to choose private Christian schooling. I'd like my children to have multiple positive role models.
Joy Nudd
Seriously, the people we know who were homeschooled are geniuses!! They are always at the top of the class. Some of Garrett's cousins are homeschooled and their parents are telling us its the way to go...hmmm........ smile.gif
Amy Nave
Joy, check it out. Amazing Christian schools were nonexistent, so for my family it was the way to go. Not only will your children get an amazing education, but you will also develop an amazing relationship with your child/children. Because of homeschooling I am super close to my parents. So your number one reason should be to build a relationship with your children. I help out with junior highers at my church and I can't believe how many of them don't have a relationship with their parents. It is soooo sad, and my heart goes out to every single one of them. So if God is leading you in that direction, why not just go for it.......

If you have any questions definitely e-mail me and I would be happy to answer them.
