I am now looking for a software that will allow me to print receipts and retain records for accounting. I can't spent too much but I don't want it to be stripped down software (like the free Microsoft accounting software- didn't care for it.) I found software I like but I just wanted to see what fellow OSP users are doing. http://www.invoicebyclick.com/screen.htm

I use Quickbooks Online Edition so my accountant can access everything immediately throughout the year. It's a slight pain, because it only works with PC, which means I have to launch Vista (bleh) on my mac using VMWare, but it's worth the simplicity of having the online system. It costs me around $12/month.

I recommend Quickbooks, it's easy to use and can run all sorts of reports, keep track of bills, create estimates and invoices, etc. It can do anything needed by a small business. If you go that route, get the version customized specifically for professional services.

Quickbooks is pretty much the accounting/finance standard, although there are other options out there of course. But you can't go wrong with Quickbooks.

I have Quickbooks - it's apprently the best - but I hate it, so I hired someone else to use it smile.gif

AccountEdge. More features than Quickbooks.

My accountant hates Quickbooks!

I just remember the main reason my accountant don't like Quickbooks but liked AccountEdge when he saw it.

It could be a good thing or a bad one, depending how you see it...

If you make an error on a transaction in QuickBook you cannot erase it of correct it easily.

In Account Edge you can go back into your transaction, erase them or change them.

That would be my main complaint about Quickbooks is that there is no delete/erase option!

The reason for the lack of an erase/delete option in QB is that in true accounting fashion errors are corrected by creating an entry to reverse the previous entry.

Yes, I'm the nerd who aced accounting but I still don't like doing it.
