I was wondering if any of you have any recommendations for a company that will take old photo albums and scan all the images in them? My mom has books and books of photos that we'd like to digitize.

well, there's scancafe, they're based in the US but the work is done in India (eg cheap labor). Supposedly good, according to a couple of publication reviews. I've thought about sending my negatives over there instead of buying a film scanner I'll hardly use.

Here is a link off my blog to a company. I think you have to have loose prints, not sure about pages. Copy the link to the blog, and scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the company info and link.

Hey Kevin,

Have you thought of photgraphing these pages?
If that is too labor intensive or if you're looking for a higher rez scan, I would suggest using a lab here in MN that does fine art and book scanning.

DigiGraphics is awesome, I helped them make the decision to get the equipment for their fine art scanning/reproduction service. This machine will scan just about anything and the quality is incredible.

The only 'issue' is cost - it would get pretty spendy to do a number of book images. However, if they're loose you could use their standard scanning services.

Either way I would check them out if I were you.
