grab it and drag it into the trash can icon at the bottom of the layers pallette

but that deletes the whole layer. I want to keep the layer, just remove the photo I pasted to it.

well you could create a new layer and drag it into the deleted ones place,

or

use the eraser to erase it

or

maybe if you select the layer, then under the select menu at the top choose select all, and then hit delete it will work but i'm not 100% on that one . . .

Thanks for the fast responses, but they don't seem to work. If I select all it selects the how xmas card. If I create a new layer, it puts the photo in that one too. Oh well, I guess I can just start over.

how are you creating the new layer? the photo shouldn't be in the new layer . . .

It's a xmas card templete that I downloaded and it has a layer that says paste photo here. So thats what I did. But now I want to change it and can't.

you can't go back to before that step in your history? If nothing else, select the photo with the marquee tool and press delete or cntrol x and it'll go away

I assume you pasted the photo into a layer and have closed the file so your history is now gone. If so, save it under a different name open up the template again and slide the layer over that you need.

If you need to add a photo to a template you'll most likely want to add it to its own layer so if this ever happens again you can just delete the layer without destroyng the integrity of the template.
