Full Version: Putting show on blog

Okay, I'm trying out Showit Pro...created a show and want to show it my assistant. I have a site but I can only upload single files (not the whole folder) so I thought I'd put it on my blog (I have a FTP account but my assistant doesn't) and I have NO clue how to do it. The tutorial isn't specific and all the posts I've seen on here just say "embed this code". Sorry, but I have no idea what that means.

If anyone has the knowledge and time to walk me through the process, I'd really really appreciate it.

BTW - I have a Blogspot

Thank you!

I thought I understood and the other day I tried to do it and it was giving me a blank black box or it was too large for the window.

I'm so glad someone asked this, I was just ready to!

Hey guys! I never got the PM, but there was another post (if only I could find it!!!) that gave the instructions posted right after this one. And it totally worked for me! If I had done it more than once I would repeat it, but I don't wanna mess anyone up so please, if this doesn't work, I appologize! Oh, and I'm in Blogger, I have no clue about the other systems.

ok so I put the show on my ftp server. In showit I put the web address in on the publish page and asked it to create an embeded code, and it pops up with a window of long HTML code.

I went to my blog, made a new post about the show, and then clicked the "Edit HTML" tab on top of the controls. I copy and pasted the code from showit into the blog underneath my text and then hit publish and wholla!

This is vague, but it may just help. If not, I hope you can find the post on OSP and have better luck with your seach cause I didn't look very hard. biggrin.gif

Thanks Erin. I am going to make a year end best of show.... and I'll try it! (It might be in a few days!)

Erin - thanks for that.

Quick question tho - what web address do you use, ie the specific show folder name, the index link etc??

The exact show link, so for example mine would be: www.artandsoulphoto.com/slideshows/robbieandjoanna

Hope it helps!

I am not sure if this is what you want but I uploaded this show to my Godaddy account and used that address in showit to create the code.

Click the Generate IFrame Code Button

Then Copy the code in the orange box.

Click the HTML edit button and paste into the box. You can now switch to compose to the compose interface to finish editing.

I just started a Blogger account to see how it works and Blogger does allow embedding show in a free hosting blog and a FREE WordPress does not.

New Blogger with embedded SHOWIT!
JuanCa
Can you add me to your copies?

Thanks!

Thanks Jerry...I guess what I need to know is how to upload it to my GoDaddy acct. Can you help with that too please please?

Thanks!
mandiraemcdougall
I'm not Jerry, but I can help. smile.gif

Hosting and Servers, my Account
Click on open, under control panel
In the window that opens, click on content, and then FTP Client
Find on your computer where the file is saved, and upload the entire file for whatever showit you want to upload (to do this, you highlight the file by clicking on it, and click on the arrows between the two lists, moving your file OVER to the right)

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Anyone know how to get this to work with a Wordpress blog?
DDuggan
this is what I do:

<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" id="showit_swf" data="http://www.dugganstudio.com/mp_images/WS_MichelleandAshley/showit.swf" height="250" width="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dugganstudio.com/mp_images/WS_MichelleandAshley/showit.swf"><param name="flashvars" value="showit_embed=http://www.dugganstudio.com/mp_images/WS_MichelleandAshley/|350|250|1|1|0"><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="salign" value="LT"><param name="menu" value="false"><param name="loop" value="false"><param name="quality" value="best"><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></object>

the bold text is the file location and the "|350|250" are the deminsions of the image [\player.
