Well I put my new 24" iMac together yesterday and upgraded to 4gb of ram from trans international. Wow is this thing awesome! It boots super-fast and is very simple to operate with Leopard. LR seems to still have a few bugs with the operating system but Im sure they'll get that under control soon. Added bonus - I didn't know that when I loaded my RAW files on the hard drive that Apple automatically recognizes them and they are available for instant viewing. Light years ahead of a PC. Thanks to all who gave guidance during this transition.

Cheers

Thank you. I'm very happy with the machines performance. The operating system is much more stable than vista.

Welcome to the other side!! The Happy side! I just upgraded one of my 3 macs to Leopard today and it's beautiful. However, I don't use Lightroom...so for CS3, far so good!

I have to admit the stress factor is down quite a bit using my new apple. I dont get the perpetual hour glass.

That is a really kewl short cut. Any way to enlarge all of the thumbnails in a folder while sorting through a folder?

CS3 is next on my list. LR is awesome for work flow and developing though.

My Pro Tower is sitting over next to my husband, getting ready for prime time Barefoot Memories operations! wooooo hooooo!

We're still waiting on some ram from crucial.com, and we're setting up Windows via VMWare because I have some software that will only run in Windows, and I need Windows for EZPhotoSales/AfterShutter testing.

I'm also waiting for my copy of LR, but I have a question:
I'll be getting CS3 on that Pro tower. Does that include Bridge for Raw processing, just like CS2?
I have CS2 on my PC, I bought CS3 (part of the whole MarkIII debacle), didn't like CS3 on PC, downgraded to CS2, and Adobe has told me that they'll transfer that unused CS3 license purchase to the new Mac for me. So, will that give me PS & Bridge? I don't HAVE to have LR, right?
I'm getting LR, but I don't have it yet.

As soon as I'm ready to make the big switch, we're going to bring my outlook address/calendar/contacts/email over to mac (http://www.little-machines.com amazing, $10 for outlook-to-mac conversions), get CS3 on there, and I'll be officially all Mac!
MeeksDigital
yeah carey, you'll have bridge through CS3. since LR isn't a CS3 program (it isnt part of the CS3 suite - it's stand alone as you know) you don't NEED to have it - you'll love the new bridge in CS3!!

Yes CS3 will have the newest version of bridge. So you don't have to worry about that. Everyones workflow is different. Some prefer Bridge and others prefer LR. Some use both. I personally find LR to be easier to navigate and use. I really want to master it first and then go back to bridge. Either way on a Mac you'll be just fine.
