So I got an early Christmas present from myself in the form of an iPhone. Only made about 15 calls, sent about 10 texts and listened to a couple songs. In two days I've had to charge the battery 3 times. Is this normal?

doesn't sound normal to me. mine lasts longer than that

Even with heavy use I only have to charge mine at night, never during the day. If I forget to charge it at night though, its likely to die the next day.

I'm sure one of their design criteria was that it needed to 'make it through the day' on a full charge. If it's not then I'd take it back.

Thanks for the input guys...that didn't reallly seem normal to me. I'll probably call them and see what I need to do.

When you charged it the VERY FIRST TIME, did you charge it off a USB connection or a wall socket?

If you charged it that first time on a USB port, the battery will never hold a charge well. You HAVE to charge it on a wall socket for that first charge.

I ended up getting a replacement iPhone for this reason, charged it on the WALL CHARGER for the 1st charge, and it's been much better.

both my husband and i charged ours through the usb first (i think) because we were syncing with our icals and itunes and didn't want to pull it off a charge until it was done. with heavy use during the day it is best if i do charge it at night, but it will def. hold a good charge for at least 2 days. we do however charge mostly through the wall when we do charge.
charging that many times doesn't sound right- i would take it back because it will only get worse over time.

I did charge it on the wall the first time...overnight. The next day, I plugged it in to the computer to load up some songs....could this be the problem perhaps?

I read a post online somewhere that if you aren't using wi-fi, turn it off. If you leave it on when you aren't using it, it will consume your battery very quickly while it tries to find a wireless signal. I only turn the wi-fi on when I am checking email, or browsing, but it stays off mostly. My battery will stay charged for days like this. Using the wall charger works better too!

hope that helps

Hey there,

I've heard the same about the wi-fi taking up battery life. I leave mine on because I'm surfing and emailing from mine all the time.

I have to charge mine up just about every day, but I'm using it for hours every day too... about 20 calls on it, averaging 5 minutes, I check and delete my 300 emails a day on it (when are they going to get a spam filter?!), and check stuff on the net for at least 20 minutes a day. Plus a few texts, alarms, calendar checks, etc.

So, no, your situation doesn't sound quite normal.

Hope that helps,

Corey
