If you had one day to live, what would you do?

smile.gif
amber holritz
Grab my husband and kids, turn off the phones, TV, and computer... write quick love notes to the people most influential in my life... and get down to spending some serious time with my nuclear family. I would just want to *Be* with them...

Just got a wee bit weepy over this one... Thanks David... smile.gif
liana
skydiving (because I'm deatly scared of heights)
horseback riding on the beach!!!!
have the biggest best party with all of my friends and family there at the same time
and take one last picture that said what 1000 words couldn't about what I would say when I'm leaving...

...cz they're all so far-fetched it would be like being one step closer to the place we'd be going....
Alisha
I would probally be to upset to do anything.

This is weird that you posted this David Jay because I was thinking about this just this morning blink.gif Weird....... I was also thinking about how I take life and being able to live life for granite.hmmmmm....

Skydiving, that is a good one. When it all comes down to it I would definitely spend time with all my love ones smile.gif

i know what you mean (i think anyway, unless you are working for granite and didn't mean granted). i had an invincible feeling until my only brother and best friend passed away several years back..... taught me to do every possible thing i could while alive and enjoy it to the absolute freakin max!

Like any other day, I'd spend it reading / posting on OSP. thumbsup.gif

The most peaceful thing is my parents patio. They live on the edge of town with open fields behind the house...birds singing...pleasant breezes whispering through the aspens...the sizzle of a nice steak on the BBQ...the dog licking the grease out of the bottom (okay, that's not so pleasant...but still a key part of the moment)...come to think of it, it's exactly like that scene in the Gladiator where Maximus is dying and dreams of home with his family. Yeah...I'd do that.

I like that. smile.gif

I think I'd grab my backpacking gear and head for the Sierras... and maybe bring a camera with me for one last shot to add to the blog.
gcoates
I'd walk out of my job and spend the day with my wife and kids, probably hiking in the park with my camera. I'd take some pictures, but mostly I'd want to spend time talking to my family.
MissMunchy
I would be with my kids and husband talking and laughing!

Dj, what about you? You ask the questions, but you never answer them!!

I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!!
Joy Nudd
I would wake up REALLY early in the morning and call everyone I know... waking them up from their sweet slumber...and tell them how much they mean to me. Then spend the rest of the 19 hours with my family and do some fun stuff...pop popcorn, eat Dove bars,......whatever else! wub.gif

And if tomorrow was my last day I want my OSP family to know it was a privilege to be amongst the coolest people I've ever known...
sniff..sniff... (where's the bawling emoticon?)

what the? Why am I so mushy all of a sudden??? wub.gif laughing.gif
ok, gotta go hug my hubby! 04.gif hug.gif

you know...it is so easy to take something for granted. the saying goes you don't know what you have until you lose it. thinking of the possibility of losing my son has changed the way i think big time. i appreciate every single second he is in our lives and try to make the most of every one. what i am trying to say is live each day as if it was your last. don't wait to hug your dad and tell him you love him. let people know what they mean to you. stop and smell the roses. do something for someone just because. do something for yourself just because. don't stay mad, and say you're sorry. say i love you as much as possible to your loved ones. never look back or forward, instead look at right here and now.
if i only had one day to live i would do what i try to do everyday (except work)
IT ONLY TAKES A SPLIT SECOND TO CHANGE YOUR WHOLE LIFE AROUND
don't be sorry in the next second for something you could have done the second before. everytime you leave someone treat it as though it will be the last time you ever see them. think to yourself is this how i want to spend the last seconds i have with this person

Hey Dan, can't wait to meet you too. Actually there's lots of people I can't wait to meet. biggrin.gif

Any chance those of you at OSP south could webcast a live feed from GA? Ha!
Tricia
I'd thank the Lord for the blessings He has given me in my life and continue to love everyone the way I do right now! I like to live life as it is always the last day, b/c most of the time we don't get a warning.

If I had one day to live...I would indulge every fattening thing in site.

I'm sooo tired of watching calories! read2.gif w00t.gif
Tara Sieling
I would want to do everything crazy and wild that I haven't gotten a chance to do yet b/c I have no time! Then at night, I would fly in all my friends and family for a huge party! (Put it all on a credit card, right!?) We would eat tons of my favorite food and dance to retro 80s all night long! Yes! That makes me happy just thinking about it.
kenVigil
hang out with my wife, kids and extended family. And have a lasagna. But not too much though as it would be really lame to spend your last day with indigestion.

Call my parents and let them know how much they mean to me, and how much they influenced my life. Take my finance and visit all the important places to us, then go flying in a small plane to watch the sunset from above, then drive out of the city and lay under the stars together.

As I wrote the above its hard to imagine even thinking of something like this. I could never imagine knowing that I only had one day left sad.gif

Well, I'd want to wake up with my husband and daughter in a tent in the Sierras. We would spend our morning hiking to a beautiful mountain lake with crystal clear water surrounded by towering trees and mountains and swim and laugh all day. (And we'd have the whole place to ourselves.)Then we would set up camp, build a fire, and cook the best meal ever, followed by smores with dark chocolate. After dinner, we'd play our guitars and sing and then fall asleep all cuddled up together under the night sky packed full of stars. Now that's a good day wink.gif

I'd hand my camera over to my kiddos and then do as many stupid things as I can to make them laugh.

Paul@lauraeatonphoto
I think the point here is why aren't we doing these things everyday.

I had a client that was injured in Iraq and he now lives this way, I'm still trying to learn the lesson he was teaching.
rickiford
We are to live everyday like it is our last. But if I knew I had only one day left to live I would spend it with my family. Letting them know I will see them when they get to Heaven. Because tommrow Ill be running the streets of Gold.

I too would probably spend the day in the great outdoors with my immediate family telling them how much I love them & loving each moment together!

Have any of you watched Professor Randy Pausch's Last Lecture?

or another view on YOUTUBE

He's dying of pancreatic cancer & delivers his last lecture....with a focus mainly on his 3 young children! REALLY makes you think!

I watched it once months ago, and then rewatched it with my husband yesterday & we were both really moved by it! Makes you count your blessings and hug your kiddos! AND LOVE EVERY MOMENT!
Pam
Love reading all of the posts. It's fun to get into someone elses brain! I would definately hop a plane to Fairbanks Alaska because I want SO badly to see the Northern Lights.

I'd throw a giant party back east and invite everyone I know. Make sure my Grandparents, parents, Aunts, siblings and every friend I don't see because I live in Colorado could come and we'd all just spend a day doing things that are super chill and awesome. We'd eat, we'd drink, we'd rollerskate and play games. It would be fantastic!

I refer people to this constantly! I think the first mention I ever heard of it was here, but probably 6 months ago. It's a wonderful inspiring important video. I hope everyone takes some time to watch it. You can purchase the DVD from Carnegie Melon and I think also download the transcript. Not only is this man brilliant in business, he is an incredible inspiration in life!

Yes, I perused all the Youtube versions of the lecture last week & I swear I am a better person this week after hearing him talk! What a fantastic attitude! It makes me approach all my little things in a much more positive way!
