I am having a logo designed and we are down to the final trimmings.
Which do you like?
1 (top of page 1) or 2 ( bottom of page 1 ) Or # 3 ( bottom page )

Or # 3

Thank so much!

Honestly?
They're all kinda too girly to me.... I like them all okay, but they don't look like a man's logo.

This is tough! I like different aspects of each one. I definately like #3 the best, because the circle R is great - and much more masculine for you. I know you are probably trying to keep the "Ron" lower case to showcase the center R, but my eye keeps being drawn to the capitol R in #1 (looks like the same font?). I think #3 with capitol Ron would look great. But either way, I vote for #3.

Any thoughts??

I like 3 best. But it is still a little bit feminine. What if she used some other graphic instead of the swirly behind the "r"

That's why I was torn. I like the upper case R in #1 but like the corcle too.

I like just RON, all like the first red R, or just Anderson with only the A like the red R.
Another thing to think about is that your last name starts with an A. That means in a lot of places you will come up near the top, if not at the top. Why bring yourself all the way down to the Rs? Believe it or not, it does matter sometimes. Other things that put you at the top of lists are *R, [R], people do that for a reason, and it works.

Believe me, I lamented over the name; it has been a long road, but I have chosen Ron Anderson Images and I am stickin with it ; )

+2 and I'd shrink the circle about 1/3 because it's dominating the space.

Not to be a little black rain cloud... but that makes me think your name is Ron Randerson. I think you need to capitalize the A or move the circle with the R in it

No, I meant why not use "A" in the circle instead of your first initial? It really does make it look like Ron Randerson the way it is now. I actually like the swirlies (but I'm a girly girl)

In #2 or #3 before the first letters were both lower case or both capitals. Now you have the R capitalizes and the a lower case, so the circle R looks like it's for Randerson

Just change the "R" to an "A" and lose the lowercase "a" and your are done. The overall look is nice, but the LAST thing you want people to do is misinterpret your name... Googling "ron anderson" and "ron randerson" will give you 2 very different results...

I guess I am too late to say that I think #1 is the best without the swirly, just the text. I don't get the big red circle around the letter whether it is the R or the A. Just do the A red and leave off the circle. For once, Jason and I agree on something.

Thanks guys and gals. I had already told the designer about the changes I wanted based on what I felt you were saying as of late Wednesday night ( Thursday Morning ) Then I approved it and paid her the final payment. She sent me the final files.
I tried to take it into PS and using the magic wand tool and the eraser, tried to get the lower first and last names consistent.
I really want the emphasis to be on the R. I know that may not make a lot of sense to some, but I have a specific reason to want the R to stand out [ versus the A in my last name ]
What do you think about this?
Melody
November 30 2007, 06:08 AM
If you want the R then replace the R in Ron with the red circle (i.e. move it to the front). That still looks like Randerson. To echo Jessica - there's nothing worse than a client not being able to make out your name properly.

I just wanted something high end looking and I do shoot mostly weddings.
Logo work is hard, but in a good way. I should apologize for coming in late here, but I think you should reevaluate the statement above. Sadly, 'high end weddings' doesn't mean much anymore. I think you can go much further with this and use it to create a logo that is truly you.
What is your brand? Who are you? Ultimately that's what we're selling. You have some beautiful work on your site. It's classic, a bit of lovely traditional. Is that you too? Is that the character you bring? Is that what you want to be doing? Is that your target bride? Who is she? Where does she shop? What does she love? And answer the same questions for you. Your not choosing a logo, your creating a visual cue to you and your brand.
If the answer to all of this is that the logo that you tweaked nailed it, then congratulations! You're the one who will know when you've worked with all of the feedback and gotten it just right.
(And sorry for the soapbox. I just think that logos and branding are something like birthing and that they are worth every ounce of struggle we put into getting them just right.)

Excellent Paige as always.
hmmmm, after reading this, the red circle kind of reminds me of Target stores. Sorry Ron, I like it a lot better though.
I think you should give what Paige said a lot of thought. After all, you will probably be using it for a long time.
Mine is 18 years old (wow!) It is hard to change though. My girlfriend at the time was a designer, and we did it together.

What's up Ron? I haven't read through everyone else's suggestions but thought I'd chime in.
Gut reaction: Like 1 & 2...don't like 3. Favorite? 2.
#1: Beautiful approach. I think it's a tad loose in that it feels a bit "flighty". That probably makes no sense but what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't have a tight...cohesive feel to it. I think the "R" should be black and "IMAGES" should be red.
#2: Tight and cohesive. Classic, timeless typeface for your name, great edgy-urban touch in the typeface used for "images". Masculine enough to not let the scrolls dominate...they accentuate. Fave.
#3: Loose. Red dot is over powering. Your name seems almost secondary to everything else. A bit too much use of an edgier typeface if you're trying to go with a classic, high-end look...particularly when it is competing with a bid bold red dot. The typeface used for "IMAGES" seems out of place in this approach. I would decrease the vertical height of the word and kern out the spaces in between each letter.
Hope that helps a little. Overall, looks like you've got a competant designer creating a winning brand.!
