So, I've been working up the nerve to stop lurking for a while now, lol. I figured how better to start than with my recent faves!? I havent been in business long, and when I stopped portfolio building business came to a dead stop, lol...but things are starting to pick up again! I'm also assisting a photographer around my area with weddings, and when I'm ready, I'd like to start shooting on my own.

Welcome to OSP smile.gif! Great colors and super bright (in a good way not to be confused with overexposed) sharp pictures! Beautiful capture of the eyes wow~ Im curious if you use off camera lighting to obtain such sharp photos?

ok off to see your bloggy smile.gif

Thanks Peter and Yun! I was scared for a minute no one would post, lol!

Yun - I don't use any off camera lighting! All of those are natural light. The boy and girl at the top were against a doorway on a really really cloudy day, but behind me was always a fair amount of open sky so that helped. And the last two, she was sitting right next to a door that was mostly little windows on a pretty bright day.

I just recently learned how to finally put my 580 to use actually, but I havent used it for a session yet!

very cool. what's this "when i'm ready" business? looks to me like you're ready already. glad you aren't lurking anymore....life out here is good. addicting, but very, very good.

Thanks Mac!

Weddings scare the crap out of me! I think because I've only assisted and not even been a second shooter yet. I'd like to second shoot, just even once to convince myself I can do it, and then go for it. I'd hate to send a bride home crying in her soup because I was too nervous to do anything right!

fair enough. i shot my first wedding at the beginning of october, and the only wedding experience i had before that was second shooting a wedding in september, a week before i was to shoot on my own. i was crazy nervous, had photography nightmares in my sleep and was ready to botch the whole thing up. but the day of shooting was so much fun, i forgot to be nervous. i was so into the challenge of capturing everything that happened, it simply didn't occur to me to be nervous. i'm sure it will be the same for you. second shoot and you'll realize that you kind of do know what you're doing and that you're too good to mess things up. whether or not you actually believe that, at least lie to yourself and repeat that over and over in your head. worked for me, though i still don't actually believe it.

also, i love the expression crying in her soup. never heard it before, and i might have to steal it. not a great way to welcome someone to osp...stealing their stuff, so i'll give you a saying in return: "no use crying over spilled tomato juice. or banana pudding. or something like that."

These are really great...those eyes are amazing. Can you tell us what camera and lens you used?
Charmi Peņa
Thanks everyone!! Hi Chrissie!!

Mac - Steal away, it's ok, lol. But the phrase you're giving me is TOO funny!! My photographer I've been assisting told me to just get on Craigslist and get my first wedding that way. I'm not sure that's something I want to do...opinions?

Chad - for every image except the two with the boys by the door, I used my 24-70L, probably all at 2.8. I used to love it, but since I rented the 85 1.2 and the 70-200, it's now a love hate relationship, lol. And the two with the door were taken with the 70-200L is. I miss that lens sad.gif And I shoot with a 5D!
