How do I find out how many photos I have taken on my nikon cameras. I want to see my D2X and Fuji S3 for the D3 and thought it might be good information to have.

In Photoshop, open the latest RAW file and go to File>File Info>Advanced>http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux>auxImageNumber:

The number listed is the number of shutter clicks.
Kari
I was wondering that too. When I tried that on my Fuji S3, there was no auxImageNumber listed under the http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux. Any ideas for us Fuji users?

Edit ok... i didn't mean for that to be a link.

Were you opening a RAW file Kari?
.julie.
that's great! thanks, matt!

so here's another question... what's the average lifespan of a shutter in terms of clicks?
mattcam
There's also Opanda software too. But I don't like having extra software on my computer.

Julie, I know the D200 is rated for 100,000, but that's all I know.

Yup. I opened it first in the RAW converter, then clicked open to go to PS. I followed all your instructions, and the only things listed under the area you told me was aux:LensInfo and aux:Lens

Looks like you might need Opanda then.

Thanks so much. I have just over 200K on my D2X. Don't know how long it is suppose to last.

Matt, you earn your keep around here! Awesome informative post!

I have 46,000 shutter clicks on my d200 in less than a year. No wonder my finger hurts.

After I found out how many mine has, I found a site that people have entered there data on all camera models and types. Check it out if you are interested.

Hey that's cool! I just put mine in.

Is that how you find out for a Canon too?
Joseph Yoon
I actually don't know how Canon records shutter clicks. It doesn't show up on Exif software like Nikon bodies do.

I was curious about Canon's too.
I am wanting to sell mine and not sure how to find the info out.

Just don't ask *how old* mine is.

A quick way to know a rough number is that the number in the folder name inside of DCIM for Nikons starts with the clicks times 1000.

Oh, and the D2Xs are supposed to last about 200K clicks.
