In the next day or two I have to make a 'directory' with pictures & their names. It needs to be on a 1/2 sheet of paper (5.5" X 8.5") 6 pictures per page. I already have the photographs and names of the people in the picture are the file names. Therefore... is there a program out there that will automate or at least make it easier on me to make my directory (instead of going into Photoshop and just dragging each photo and typing their names below them).
**Also, I need to be able to print this off on my printer at home (I will be using regular paper, just doing it all in black & white).

PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE help me if you can! I have almost 200 pictures and this will take me for-ev-er to do.

Thank you so much, in advance, for all your help!!

It sounds like you are after a contact sheet. I don;t have the software in front of me right now, but most image organization software, such as Lightroom, should be able to handle this.

In Bridge, highlight all of your images, then go to Tools>Photoshop>Contact Sheet II and let her rip!

Thank you so much!
I am doing the 'Bridge' one right now. However, when it puts the names on each file, it's putting the ".jpg" after each name. Do you know how to take that off? Also, is there a way to put a margin around the page (right now the pictures are really close to the edges).
Thank you so much for all your help! I really appreciate it!

Well, it's not the most elegant solution, but you can use a Brush or Pencil tool in white and simply draw over the jpg extension. Hey, it can't all be automated! smile.gif

Picture package in CS3 (not sure about previous versions) allows you to use META date you have tagged photos with - IPTC CORE / DESCRIPTION and use this text for the label /caption.

However its not entirely automated - its usually used to place one photo in an arrangement on a page, not really using multiple photos across a page.

Also the label sits on the photo and not under it like contactsheet 2. - although you can change the colour and change the opacity of it.

If you don't mind sort of manually adding each photo (after you have setup the page - you can click on the placeholder in the 'layout' window - and çlick to select a custom file.

this is how you can add you photos. - PP will add your captions and collate them into your layout.

If you get stuck setting up your page (1/2 page - 6up), PM / email me and Ill set one up for you that you can import and use.

this is the only way I can think of aside contact sheet.

Best of luck

Jonathan
