Full Version: you might not want to have blog photos hosted on flickr

I really like flickr and used it to host the images I had on my blog. However, my employer decided that flickr and other image hosting services aren't things that employees should see, so it's blocked. I'm sure other companies do similar things, blocking sites like myspace and image sites like flickr. So, if you know people are checking out your stuff from their jobs, you might want to think about whether they can actually see your photos or if access may be blocked. I switched all the photos to my server, I have plenty of bandwidth and that way I know everyone can see my work.

Just a little tip for the day! smile.gif

Good to know! That's how I feel with flash websites - in a tiny state like DE, the state is the largest employer and therefore a heavy client base. And at least half of the state of DE computers have blocked flash on their web browsers because it isn't necessary to have in order to do the job. (I used to work in IT for the state....thank the Good Lord that I no longer work for that miserable division). Anyways, no all-flash based website for me sad.gif

Be careful with hosting on your own server. Today for the first time I exceeded my bandwidth...although it was back up within 5 minutes after a quick email because my web company rocks the hizzy....they doubled my bandwidth now....so just be on the safe side and double check your cool!

Do they realize it isn't 1995?

Yeah, unfortunately they are a bunch of rediculous control freaks. That was seriously my least favorite job ever!! They could care less about you as a person, wanting to make a happy work environment, etc.

My employer blocks most blogsites like blogspot and zanga.
They also block mp3 downloads, so Showit slideshows don't play.

Should we go dig up Patton and tell him the Nazi's are back?

Only since the crash - pretty sure that's how the Gay Weddings thread ended as well as several other pre-crash threads. lol

Yeah your post is the one that reminded me of it. I think the 1st time I saw it was about 2 years ago on a Porsche forum but when you're talking about german cars invented by a buddy of Hitler you're gonna touch it eventually.

Yeah, that "Law" is a great one. I have yet to invoke it in person, but I will dance a jig the day I do wink.gif
