Full Version: Anyone use Bay Photo?

I'm waiting for my test prints from Bay photo. Found them on the Shoot smater website. just wondering if anyone has used them? I currently use Whcc. While I do love them and their customer service, I'am not always satisfied with the results. Plus anytime I order mounting the do not cut them straight. I hate inconsistent results and that alone makes me want to look elsewhere. Bay photo is a little more pricey but they offer a TON of fun options.

Any experience with them???

Bay Photo was our lab for a little while - I really loved them at the end of our time with Photoreflect. If we still used PR we'd probably still use Bay. Never had a mounted print from them but in my experience they are *never* cut 100% perfect no matter who you use (I use MPIX for that stuff currently).

Good luck!

I used to use them all the time for my film stuff, when I went digital I switched to WHCC (not sure why). I never had any complaints with Bay's stuff.

I use them for their mounted prints with the canvas texture. They offer a coating for the prints and I hang them in the frame without the glass; they look beautiful. I like all the little cools stuff they offer too. Their prices are higher than WHCC and they are not delivered as fast.

I used to use them with film years ago, they did great work. I tried them out a few months back for 30x40 metallic prints mounted to gator board. Their customer service was really great, everyone is very helpful. One of the 5 prints they shipped me had a major problem (big pink mark 8 inches wide x 30 inches on a B+W print, I'm guessing the paper was bent before processing). I was pretty disappointed they missed something that obvious but they were great about fixing it and getting me a new one.
It is so hard to find companies in this industry that treat you like more than just a number so I figured it is worth it to keep some of my business with them. I'd give them a shot as anyone can make a mistake but not everyone will treat you right when it is time to fix it.

Just had to quote that sentence. It is so true in everything.

What about the color/quality of the prints? Are they any better then whcc? I agree the shipping is a bit slower then whcc. I'm just looking to find a lab that might be better color/quality then WHCC. Mpix I find very inconsistent with the color/contrast. Pro lab express.. nothing to write home about. Just want to find that lab that just takes the cake. I should get my test prints today. So far nothing negative to say about them yet.
