My wife and I are kinda getting tired of lugging around our 5D and 20D everywhere we go and might wanna take pictures. I think I am gonna get her a point and shoot for Christmas but I have no idea what to get. I would love to hear what you guys think or what you have. I am trying to keep it under $200. Thanks.

I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ3, and so far I really like it. We also wanted something to take with us instead of lugging around our SLR's. I thought it was a bit strange to buy a Panasonic, but it got great reviews. It has a wide angle lens which is hard to find in the point and shoot models, it also has a 10x zoom which is awesome. I think the 35mm equivalent is 28-280. It also has image stabilization which is pretty common on point and shoots. It was a little strange not to have any manual controls, but I'm getting used to it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The powershot cameras are sweet.

I don't know about Matt's, but I would get one with a high zoom factor because I like blurry backgrounds and sometimes you can get that from a pns if it has a nice zoom.

I would only consider the new Olympus that is waterproof - but its $300.

Out of your price range....but my fav is the Powershot G9...any point and shoot that accepts pocket wizards, and shoots in RAW is a winner in my book!

Thank you for your responses. I have been looking at the Canon SD1000 elph. I really like the size and its gotten pretty good reviews. Anybody ever used one?

I love the little Canon Powershot SD series the new sd 850 or 950 at 10 and 12 MP are amazing. These actually fit in your pocket easily and take great pics. I still have my little ixy 7 MP cam that I've had for years now...the perfect little point and shoot. I got mine for less than $100...in Japan about 3 years ago.
