Question on pages per album.
On an average wedding what are the # of pages
that you would include in an album. I know it my
be different and has to do with budget and what the
B&G want but just wanted to get and idea of what
is an average if possible. Thanks
Mark Collins
i think it has allot to do with the number of images you(or the client) wants in the album.
when i'm designing my ideal is a average of 1.5 pictures per page. so for 90 images that's a 60 page album.

of course i don't always get my ideal, a recent album i designed for sarah anne photography ended up with 112 images in a 58 page book. so that's slightly less than a average of 2 images per page.

i think you just have to figure out what ratio works best for your designing style, and from there it's pretty easy to calculate how many pages to do, based on the number of images that need to go into the album.

Mark,
thanks that helps. I was trying to get an idea of were to
set my prices.

our lowest package includes a credit good for a 20 page album

our other packages are built around a 40 page album... When I pre-design, it's usually 50-60pages, hoping to upsell a bit and give the client some options as to page designs...

We are finding it hard to cover a complete wedding in less than 40-60 pages.

Please forgive the highjack here, but can you tell me how you got your album design, which I presume is from a layout program, into ShowItWeb? It's really cool and I can't figure out how to do it myself. Thanks!
Lynn Squier
Our albums are usually somewhere between 20 and 40 sides.

i actually do all my layouts custom in photoshop, no templates. so once i'm done with the album i take the folder of final jpgs and put them right into showitweb.

i just remembered i posted my album workflow into another thread recently here's the link to that post.

We design all of our albums with 20 pages, 40 sides.

We recommend between 2-3 per side max, so 80-120. My pre-designs are usually done with 60-80 images.

Thanks,
That gives me a good starting point.

ask Kevin Swan

He does some kickass layouts in InDesign and shows them with Showit Web. I'm curious how he does it too :-)

As long as you make a version of the album page as JPEG you ucan put it into SIW. I alter the page size to accomodate what the dimension need to be, i.e. if it's a 13 x 9.5 I'll create the SIW show at 1000 x 430.

We use SIW to send the preview on to all our clients.

Also - take off page movement and make the pages stay up longer - like 8-10 sec a side so they can see if all before the next one comes up.

Here are a couple we did from this year:

Eric & Karen
