Hi Everyone

I have recently had the opportunity to use the Canon 30D with a 580exII flash. I have achieved good results on occassion but I do find that frequently the people have an orange skin tone. I am a nikon user and don't usually have these issues. Has anyone else had this issue with this camera? If, so What configuration of settings did you use to achieve natural skin tones (i.e. saturation, sharpness, color temp)? Is custom white balance the answer?

I appreciate your expert help with this issue. I've feel as though I've tried a ton of different settings and am still not achieving the result I would like. Most of the photographs are portraits, taken outdoors or inside in incandesant light, both with fill flash.

Thanks!
Jodi

HI Jodi!

I have not had skin tones that were too orange in natural light but I have seen an orange cast sometimes in low light situations. The one thing I have learned about the 30D (and all digi slr's for that matter) is to use the custom white balance. It has saved my booty! It was hard to get used to because I shot woth a Fuji for so long and it seems to have a very big brain when it comes to WB smile.gif. But once I get the CWB set up it seems that I'm all good with the 30D.

Hope that helps!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for the info! What do you use for a white/grey card?

Thanks
