Full Version: How do I turn off the grids in CS2?

Grr.

The other day I realize I clicked too many keys at the same time and ended up with the "grid" on all my images. Now when ever I open an image in CS2, every single one of them has the grid turned on.

Of course I know how to turn it off manually, but how on earth do I get it to not automatically show up? I've tried turning it off then restarting CS2 but that didn't do the trick.

Help!

Hmmm, that's happened to me before, but usually what you tried works for me. Maybe try clearing your photoshop cache, or restarting your computer. Hopefully someone knows how to help you better!

How much are you going to pay me to tell you?! wink.gif

Actually, I don't really know! There's the obvious going into View>Show>Grid & unclicking it which is what you've probably already done. The only other thing I can suggest is to go into the Window tab and reset your workspace & menus. Hopefully that might do it but I can't be certain.

Dangit, nope again. Thanks, Sofie, for trying (even if you're trying to blackmail me by demanding money, hahaha).

Suppose I could do a Google search but I'm heading out the door this very minute. Gotta get these bridals edited for the family but the grid is irritating me to no end.

Anyone else want to give it a whirl? I'd love you FOREVER!

Are you on a Mac or PC? If a Mac, try Cmd - ' and see if that rids of them.

I just did a test which went like this:

1. Opened Image #1.
2. Applied the grid.
3. Closed Image #1.
4. Opened Image #2 (a different image) and the grid was there automatically.
5. Removed the grid manually and closed Image #2.
6. Opened Image #1 again and the grid is not there.

You said you closed CS2, but did you remove the grid first? I just did that test too and if you remove the grid from the image and then restart CS2, you should be fine.

If not, I wonder if you saved the grid as part of your Workspace? Maybe you need to choose Default Workspace from Window>Workspace? I don't use Workspaces, so it's just a guess.

Hi Shannon,
view -> show -> grid should toggle on and off the grid. Or Ctrl+' on the PC.

The 1-6 worked for me because I realized I was hitting "Extras" to turn off the grid, closing, opening and it was still there. I needed to go into "Show" then click "grid" off to make it work. I feel so silly blink.gif Thanks, Matt! Now I will love you forever!

Glad it worked out. I didn't even think of giving you the specific menu pick because you mentioned that you knew how to turn off the grid. I guess you were just using the wrong light switch! smile.gif

Of course, Sofie, you're a genius. I think it was in combination with the "extras" being selected that doing it your way wasn't enough. So I guess I'll just send you "part" of the $ laughing.gif Thanks for being awesome!
amorphia
