Google "thanksgiving day smileys" and you'll get a bunch of links!

Ahhh...pretzel salad is YUMMY! The perfect combo of sweet & salty! It's a big southern delaware dish. My husband grew up in Newark, DE and never heard of it until he met me. He had it at Thanksgiving for the first time in 2001. Actually, funny story. He skipped over it during the buffet line at my family's house. I asked him if he was going to try it and he said "Yes. For dessert. I'll go back." Oh no darling. In my family, this isn't dessert....it's a food course. You get it now or else there won't be any left during dessert time. Now he has to have it every holiday and makes it for his family get togethers and it MUST be served with dinner. LOL

I will find the recipe and post it for you!

Here it is.... You can customize this as you wish.

2 c. crushed pretzel sticks
3/4 c. melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry Jello (or whatever flavor you wish)
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen strawberries, partially thawed (or other frozen berries you like)

Mix pretzels, 3 tbsp sugar, and butter together and press in bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees (metal pan) or 325 degrees (glass pan) 8 minutes. Let cool completely - I like to put it in the fridge for an hour or two. Beat 1 cup sugar and cream cheese. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over pretzels. Mix Jello and water until dissolved. Add strawberries. Stir into Jello, then set aside until jello becomes the same consistency as egg whites. Pour over cheese mixture. Chill overnight.

** the first thing to mess up is pouring the jello on too soon! If it's too watery, it will pour into the bottom layer and become mush. So have patience and let the jello solidify to a little beyond egg white consistency!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!

oh.my.gosh.
Candy... You HAVE try it... But... a word of caution...You had better wear a hard hat to keep you tounge from beating your brains out!!
Deep fried is faster and less messes for Rachel (my pg.gif wife) to clean up after the families leave the house.

most prople heat up PEANUT oil to 325 deg in a stainless steel pot, and dunk a thawed turkey in the oil SLOWLY ( I cant stress that enough... SLOWLY) because the water and fats and skin on/in the bird pops and skips like it's the 4th of july.
I heat my oil to 350 in order to sear the outside and lock in the moisture of the bird... I like em JUICY!!!! Plus you can marinade with an injector the day before.
LOTSA different types of injections you can use... I prefer the Cajun Creole Butter... WAHOO!!!!

Has anyone ever tried beer cooked chicken? It's when you set a chicken on top of a cut off beer can (with 1/3 of the can full of beer) and put it on the grill. OMG, the best darn chicken EVER. Sooooooo moist. I think you can do it with non-alcoholic beverage as well....you just need some beverage for the moisture.

Yea... We call it *giggle* "Beer Butt Chicken"
Isn't that stuff the GREATEST!?!?!?

We cook over Charcoal with a bit of hickory chips mixed in.. No lighter fluid... Lighter fluid makes the meat taste like I've french kissed a Zippo *yuk*

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. My wife's cherry jello and my mom's pumpkin pie are the best foods on Thanksgiving. And the turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, gravy, rolls, green bean casserole, strawberry pretzel jello...

Still haven't heard anything sad.gif But I'm sure it won't be long...she was having a "conversation" with her father the other day when the nurse walked into the room and also was calling after her sister in law who'd passed. She's in that deep coma now right before someone dies so if not today then I'm guessing tomorrow. sad.gif

Thanks for the prayers! wub.gif
