I didn't know where to post this so here it is. I thought I'd be clever like a lot of people on here and submit some photos to Shutterstock. I crossed my fingers and... they were ALL rejected. Super ouch. Oh well. So much for having a little jingle in my pocket. smile.gif

Don't give up! Learn from it & use the rejects to do more shooting - most people don't walk in to even a 50% acceptance - I'm pretty sure I even warned people of that. You can do it! I'm getting a batch ready right now as well. lol

I don't know. I can't even edit pictures to put on my website. It was nearly impossible to find ten that I thought other people might want. Now my brain hurts. smile.gif It's a good thing I didn't choose rocket science... Actually all of them but one got rejected because of noise. sad.gif I checked all of them at 100% and I thought they were okay.

Buffy - how are you this easily defeated? You gave them 10 photos you didn't take for stock and have never done this before. Was your first wedding perfect? I mean imagine if you weren't *trying* to take wedding photos and had to enter 3 from your first wedding in a WPPI 16x20" print contest.

I dunno - it's up to you guys. I get rejected on SS all the time. It's usually because the photo isn't good enough & I usually know that going in but you have to find the line. Once you find it, it's easier to be on one side or other. I'm submitting 25 tomorrow that I have almost no hope of getting accepted, but hey, worth a shot. Gotta find the line cuz I haven't uploaded in awhile.

Good encouragement Matt. Don't give up! Only 10 photos is nothing...give up after you've submitted 100 and got nothing...at least you'll know why they are rejecting them and you can use that to improve each time. Use it as a free critique.

I'm still sorting through all mine to see if there's anything worthwhile to send in...I'm doubting it though.

Seriously...don't give up. I've never submitted anything for stock...but the fact that I convinced a wonderful woman to marry me is proof-positive in the power of persistence.

Don't give up! I have been rejected too 2 times by 2 different companies--but I knew that the images would be rejected. My style is mostly wedding-minded and I am retraining myself to think like a stock photo chick.....plus my stuff is noisy! My husband and I are going to dedicate at least 1 day a week to doing stock this winter. If I upload 100 pics and just 1 gets in then I am sure that by then I will have learned a lot--plus I am able to teach him about the camera at the same time. WIN WIN
Then I know my next 100 will rock....as far as stock goes. Just have fun and realize its a whole new ball game. You cannot give up or you are defeated before you even start.

Good Luck!

Wow Matt! I will upload some more. smile.gif I need to meet all of you so that you know when I'm playing and when I'm being serious. smile.gif Really though - it wasn't that big of a deal (although it stung a little cause I hate to fail) and I'm trying to figure out which room to transform into my temporary stdio so that I can set up some nice lights and a white backdrop. Stock photography here I come!! smile.gif Oh, and I would absolutely die before I entered any WPPI contest. My heart would give out. smile.gif

Hey don't give up!
Shooting stock is different than shooting a wedding. One you get the hang of what they are looking for it will go better.

Here is a trick - I get about 80% of my stock accepted !

this is how I do it.
about 25 - 30% of my photos get accepted.
So I joined 4 different stock photo sites!
I submit the rejected ones to the next site and by the end most are up on a site working for me.

Question - really for Matt - if a photo is rejected for noise - can you fix it (via noise ninja or other ps plugin) and resubmit? I wouldn't think so... but....
