WE'RE HEADED TO KENYA, AFRICA WITH 410 BRIDGE
Words can not describe how utterly excited we are to have this opportunity to travel to Kenya, Africa with the most amazing organization, 410 Bridge. It's a long story on how this came about. I don't want to bore you with all the details so I'll try and make this as short as possible. I feel a huge urge to share this all with you because it's truly incredible. Many of you know about "The Secret". If you don't, it's a must! Gary Fong introduced us to it on his blog and provided a link to it on You Tube, I think back in November. I downloaded the 90 minute video (I have since deleted the download and purchased 4 copies of the DVD). At the time Gary wrote about "The Secret" it wasn't widely known about. Bob was out of town on when I downloaded it and I began to watch it on my computer. Within the first 10 minutes, I was so taken back and felt such a connection to it, I stopped watching it because I knew it was something I wanted to experience with Bob. I emailed Bob and told him that I wanted to watch this really awesome video with him. Well, time got away from us and we never had a chance to watch it. I emailed Bob several times but we never got around to it. Then one day back in March 2007, Oprah had a show about "The Secret". When I watched it I was floored... just floored. And then it hit my like a ton of bricks! That's what Gary had me download. I ran up to my computer, clicked on the video link and sure enough, it was "The Secret". I immediately bought 4 copies, because I knew this was going to be BIG! I gave them out several times now to people to watch (I currently need to order a few more copies because I don't have anymore).
The essence of "The Secret" is about laws of attraction. Meaning whatever it is you're thinking... will happen! Whether it be... "oh, why me?".... or "I have all this debt and there is no way I'm going to be able to get out of it" or even... "I'd like to go to Africa with my family"... it all happens! Our minds are so powerful. I've learned from "The Secret" to change whatever negative thoughts I may have into positive ones. If you have goals you want to acheive you simply have to ask, believe and receive. I know it sounds a lot easier said than done... but it's really not hard. Well, one of the things on DVD recommended to do was to make a visionary board. So, that week, I bought a beautifully framed cork board and hung it up in my office. I didn't overload it with tons of things because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to put there. I'd wanted to make sure it was exactly what I wanted to see in our future. But one of the first things I put up there was a trip to Africa with my family. Needless to say, 3 weeks later, Bob was speaking in Atlanta for Apple about Aperture. He was explaining his work flow and was also showing his work. One of things that is VERY important to us is giving back. And we feel so blessed to be gifted with such incredible talent, that one of the ways we give back is to get involved with organizations and donate our talents of photography and design to help bring awareness to the causes of these organizations. We also do many private projects that are just as wonderful. Bob really wanted to let other photographers know that they have been blessed with an amazing talent and let them know that they too could give back just as easy. Well, after showing everyone a book I designed with photos of his recent trip to Romania with the Medical Mission Foundation, he met a man in the audience who said he had a friend that traveled to Africa and thought he would be interested in working with Bob. Bob was excited and gave him his business card.
This is how we were introduced to 410 Bridge! I cannot begin to tell you how incredible this organization is. What they have accomplished in such a short period of time is overwhelming. God has truly expanded their territory and brought them huge success with their trips to Africa. The 410 Bridge could not have been a more perfect organization to give back to. 410 is derived from a passage in the bible and it goes like this…

I am still amazed at what he's accomplished with his team in such a short period of time. God has worked through him BIG time! Although, Lanny will not be on this trip with us, I feel so connected to him. I've never meet him but I did read the most amazing book he authored "God's Blog". WOW... it is incredible! It's written as if God was the author and was updating his online journal. At times it's very humorous but most of all it's written with passion and common sense. I just LOVED it and have read it several times now. It's a fantastic book and I highly recommend it. It's available on Amazon.com and I've linked the photo if you're interested.
