Eric Hegwer
Hey OSP,

It's been just over a year since I relocated to Austin, TX and everything has been simply amazing. Most of of the OSP regulars know my story, but for the new folks here's a quick recap:

I went from a 40 hour a week biochemist to a fully independent 30+ weddings a year photographer with absolutely zero dollars spent on advertising. My first wedding 3 years ago was shot with a rented Canon 10D and a kit lens. Last year I sold all my Canon stuff, and changed to Nikon: 3 D200s, a bunch of primes, macros, zooms, and flashes. All this without ever going into debt to buy new gear. As soon as the D3 is released, I've got my name down for 2 of them, too.

I still haven't bought an ad in a magazine or on a website, and I'm 1/3 of the way to my '08 numbers. At the beginning of every season, my wife and I plan out our vacation schedule. Last year we spent 21 days in Europe, this Christmas, New Years, and my birthday we will be in Rome and Paris, and next summer we already have our plane tickets for a 30 day travel extravaganza around the Baltic Coast.

I'm very thankful and deeply indebted to many, many people who have helped my business the past few years in California, Texas, and across the USA.

Of course, I've wanted to give something back to all the people who have helped me, and I think I've found a way to do it, and increase their business, put more money in your pocket, and have more fun with the entire process all without hurting my own business by giving away my marketing secrets.

Most photographers have something to sell to improve your workflow, a whiz-bang gadget to help you take better pictures, or a DVD outlining their success. I have none of that. What I'm pitching won't cost you a cent, but will require a commitment of 1-2 hours maximum. If it works, YOU will have more clients next year - If it doesn't it didn't cost you a penny.

Thanks for reading this far. If you are interested, I can send you an e-mail outlining what you can do.

Just reply to this post with your e-mail and I'll add you to the list.

Cheers,
Eric

PS: Many of you know I’m on a bunch of different message boards. I’m only offering this to OSP members right now, mostly because of the honest answers everyone provides here, as well as the general Openness of the community. Let’s not spread this offer to other sites - yet.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude...you need some kids!

Jenn and I are still practicing smile.gif

To everyone that wants the details posted on OSP, here is a bit more info:

The whole thing needs to be polished - some finishing touches, a bit of editing, and some constructive comments to make it perfect. that's what I need from all of you! Trust me, once you hear the idea, you will go - duh, why didn't I think of that?

And -

For everyone that is sending PM's - please just add you name to the list so everything is in once place. It's actually easier for me that way.
