I just posted asking best to way to back up to DVD, but I'm curious what is everyone's back up workflow from A to Z?

Here is mine (LAME-BO, I know. But hey, I'm new at this!!!):

1. Next day I back up all RAW cards to two separate hard drives.
2. Re-name all files in Bridge according to date (separate cameras are theoretically synced--this works pretty well). I use "bridesmaidenname0001" etc. (Is there a reason I should have it be "bridesmaidenname_0001" instead--with the underscore?)
3. Back up all raw files to DVD. This is a painstaking process, but as I mentioned in my other thread topic, I'm sure there is a better way.

That is it! Any ideas, tips, suggestions? SHould I be backing up at wedding as I go?

Thanks!

I dump everything on a laptop at the reception so I can check my work before I leave for the day. Then burn them on DVD, then dump that DVD onto my desktop, so pretty much 3 copies of every wedding.

Well, we just added 3 Terabytes of protected memory to help our backup process. We have a total of 7TB. Here is what we do:

1. Download cards to RAID 1 drive (fully protected memory, no need to copy to two different drives).
2. Convert RAW files to DNG as they are copied to our Editing drive. We never edit on the RAID.
3. Monday, the RAID is backed up on an external hard drive that goes home.
4. Tuesday the second backup drive comes to the office and backups up the new files and sits until next Monday.

File go off-site for editing.

After final images are edited.
1. Final images all copied to our networked MediaServer (RAID 10).
2. Unedited RAW files are copied back to a folder on the original RAID1 drive to sit for a few months just in case we need to pull an image.
3. Final JPEGs DVDs created and placed in client's file. (These are the only DVDs we burn)

Our RAID1 drive and Media Server are both backed up every Monday off-site on an external drive.

We also have daily backup of our main computer hard drive and album designs folder as well as the Lightroom Catalog.

Any other backup configs? I'm sure we could all use some more tips on how to best manage all of these files

When I get home, I dump to my internal HD, copy to external. Burn 2 copies of the original files onto DVDs and put it into their file. I also do weekly back-ups of our 2007 folder onto an external. I use Pictage so my files are saved forever after I upload themWhen I get home, I dump to my internal HD, copy to external. Burn 2 copies of the original files onto DVDs and put it into their file. Maybe a dumb question, but why do you rename them at all? Seems like extra work with little benefit.
