Hi Everyone. I downloaded the trila version of Lightroom and edited one of my recent weddings with it. I finished late last night so, I started the export process and went to bed. This morning I find that an error has occured and only 175 images actually exported, and I had to close lightroom. When I re-opened lightroom to export the other images, I get the message that the file cannot be opened. I am so frustrated and not sure if I have lost everything???
If there is anyone that could call me, I would appreciate it. My number is 480-570-5600, or if you want to respond here that is fine too. I just don't have a clue as to how to get all 1200 edited images out of lightroom and into my wedding proof folder.

Did you move the files before you exported them? Can you check to make sure they are still there, in the original folder that you imported them with?

I am not really sure what you mean? I went to my folder (outside of lightroom) and it looks like the file is missing most of the original raw files??? It that what it does? I am so confused- I guess that is what I get for trying to learn a new program. Is all hope lost?

No, Tawnya, that isn't usually how it works. Those files should still be in your main folder. You need to find those files, with the exact same file names.
I just tried to call you, but you didn't answer. If you check your answering service, I left my pnone number. I'll try to help you if you call me!

The question is... how did you import them? Did you download the cards first, then import them to lightroom? Or did you import them from the cards?
The problem you are having is that lightroom can't find your files. So, they are not where lightroom thinks they are. When you import into lightroom, you are not actually bringing the files into lightroom. You are telling lightroom where the files are. So, if you import them from your card, and do not copy them to another location at the same time (one of the settings in the program) Lightroom will look to your card reader to find the files. If you don't have that card there any more (which you can't have all 1200 files there) lightroom deosn't have a file to export.
I am thinking this is your problem.
If you still have the files (hopefully you do on your cards yet) You can download them to your computer. Then you need to tell lightroom where those files are that it can't find. Then you should be able to export them.

I just have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.
I just got two voicemails one from Kari and one from Rowena (I left the house to go to the bank and PO- to get my mind off my crazy issue!) and when I returend there was a voicemail from them. I called Kari back and let me tell you she is so awesome! Kari I am so appreciative of your help and you have such a natural and easy ability of explaining things- I wasn't confused or lost once. (not all people can do that you know)!
I just really appreciate the help and Rowena- thanks for taking the time to offer your help to me! You are both awesome!

There are different methods of 'importing' pictures into Lightroom.
Do you remember if you downloaded your CF cards onto your hard drive, and THEN imported into LR?
Or did you import directly into LR?
email me if you have any questions.

Other than your exporting issue, how did you like Lightroom?

Right now, I can't really give my fair opinion, because I really know very little about it- I do love having the pre-sets it came with as well as DJs presets, I have fallen in love with a couple of them! Time will tell- I am hoping to fall in love with lightroom and my mac this December in Oregon, at Kevin K's bootcamp!
Thanks again for all the help to everyone!
