Hi, yes the iphone looks cool and maybe when the next gen comes out and I can use it with the carrier I've been with for 6+ years..maybe then I'll get one.

But for now, I'd like a phone that I can do/access:
  1. First and foremost...a good phone with good sound, works with bluetooth headset, etc.
  2. Client contacts, emails that will sync with desktop
  3. A good calendar & scheduling system that will sync with desktop
  4. Access a little web browsing, google maps, etc.
  5. View & basic edits Microsoft docs like Word
  6. Make blogger posts
  7. Maybe have a few cool 3rd party apps or games
This will be my first smartphone/PDA. I have pretty good tech skills if needed to tweak the phone, but I've heard with some of them you need to 'soft reset' them regularly, which I would prefer not to deal with. I've heard Treo come up on the boards often. Any suggestions on which or any other brands?

Thanks!

nobody using a phone organizer?

I love my Treo and can highly recommend it - but I don't know anything about any of the other Smartphones.

I went from a Treo 700w, to a BlackBerry 8830 WE. The BB is thinner and lighter, but no touchscreen like the Treo. I liked the Treo's calendar better, but the BB is better at everything else. The BB is also more stable than the Treo, in my experience.

The iPhone is cool (I really want one), but it's not without it's problems (especially ATT's awful "Edge" network)..

So, I vote for a BlackBerry.

I use a Sprint PPC 6700 - works well with Outlook, has a pull out keyboard, bluetooth and wifi. Only thing I don't like is it's bigger than average.

There is a rumor of a BlackBerry 9000 due out early next year that looks similar to an iPhone. I am really interested and keeping my eye on this one.

You can see a little more of it here:

My service provider is Verizon. I use the Motorola Q running Windows mobile 6 (includes outlook and internet explorer and mobile word) to access several mail accounts, manage my outlook calendar/contacts, web browsing, etc. I really love the phone interface and have nothing to say but good things about Verizon service and customer support.
