Hi guys,

I want to move a folder of RAW images from my internal HD to my external HD. However, i don't want to lose all of the work already done of the RAW images (presets, white balance, etc.) How do I move the images so that I don't lose all my work?

Thanks!

You can do one of two things...

you can save your data in a XMP file instead of in the Lightroom program. Then, if you ever need to import it again it is there. To do this, go to the Library Grid view. Do a Control+A (select all). Then hit Control+s. It will save an xmp file right next to your original file. Then you could delete them out of lightroom if you don't need them, but you would have to import them again if you ever needed to. The changes will still be there, because if you import them again, the xmp file will go along with it.

Or, you could just move them. When you move them, it will show a ? on the thumbnail of the image. Then you can tell it where to find the files. You just need to direct it to the new hard drive.

Yes this Or if you want, you can use DNGs, which I am in love with. I do both!
