I get a lot of flack from Brooks students around town when I tell them that I shoot weddings...and it's always funny because the conversation usually comes up when I'm purchasing something at a retail store that they are working at...the conversation goes like this:

(smilies are not exaggerated)

I hand them my bank card and they see my business name on there,

Checkout person - "Oh you're a photographer!"
DJ - "Yea I shoot weddings"
Checkout person - "Oh"
DJ - "Do you go to brooks?"
Checkout person - "Yea"
DJ - "What are you studying?"
Checkout person - "Commercial Advertising"
DJ - "Well...have a good night."

So when I get an email like this it makes me really happy that wedding photographers are no longer being seen as the low-end of the photo industry! So props to everyone out there making the industry better!

What a fantastic email to receive DJ. Nothing quite like the validation that a client can provide eh.

Its always good to get those encouraging emails of phone calls. And in the end many times you hear people doing something really boring for a living.

But I am really curious to the rest of the mail. Is the guy going to get married again or what?

I wish the dude was gonna get married again but he actually just wants us to make him an album... ... I'm sure Queensberry will do a fantastic job with it.

...actually...it's really funny you say that because I was down playing cards with Chris and some of the Pictagers and I got talking with Jason Kiefer and he said his wife really does want to do that...hmmm...maybe there's a market there! People should have one wedding when they're just outta college and then another celebration (with the same person) after they have some $$$ to drop!

Actually, there is a market (no maybe). It's called "renewing your vows" and the party can get pretty big. And yes, they do have more money to spend. Usually when the kids are out of the house.
