So I'm here in Indiana at a Holiday Inn and I can not make any outgoing e-mails.
I have notice I can not do this on any free sever for security reasons I am told.
Is there a way around this??? I'm on outlook express.
I really need to send some e-mails out tonight.
Danielle Stolman
Alisha do you have to use outlook? Perhaps it's an outlook problem and using a free account, like hotmail, gmail, etc. would work temporarily.

I've heard this happens when it's a free connection and I have to think there is a way around it?? I'm told e-mails won't go out on an unsecured connection?
I have already typed several e-mails and they are ready to go just need 'security' from the server??
This is the error message.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Drive down the street to a Motel 6 w/ free wifi and send your e-mails from the parking lot.

Or, heck, if it's that important...check in to the Motel 6...they'll leave the wifi on for you...

That's my problem, this usually happens with 'free' wifi. sad.gif

Even at Panera? Why aren't you using Outlook? I haven't had any probs with Outlook and free wifi...

And...WTH...Terre Haute is only 150 miles or so from home...

BTW -- you need a new avatar...

No, it seems to be at 'unsecured' servers. Like, rest-stops, hotels, ect. I honestly don't know why and when I started to ask around they said you have to be at a secure server for e-mails to go out.

I know, I tried to make home tonight but the weather is REALLY bad here. I have Lillie with me and didn't want to drive in that mess.

What's wrong with the one I got??? smile.gif

Don't blame you a bit for stopping. Hoping you are coming home for the ShootQ event on Tuesday and maybe I'll see ya. smile.gif

NOTHING is wrong with the current avatar. You are just due for a new one. Gotta keep the hotness fresh... wink.gif

Your provider should have a web mail feature. If they don't it's time to switch. That will solve your problems.

Alisha, are you using Entourage? Did you ever figure it out?

I am at a HIExpress and Entourage doesn't like it here. I turned off all authentications and it didn't help sad.gif

***EDIT***

I found it. Entourage users....

Edit your e-mail account settings.
Advanced sending options.
Uncheck all authentications.

Who do you use as your outgoing server? Is it your provider? I've found that I cannot send mail using my provider if im on a different network other than theirs.
Adam Squier
Many servers will block the "regular" e-mail port. You can ask your hosting provider to allow you to send messages on a different port. Change it on all of your accounts and you should be fine.
