So what is the consensus in the Mac world? On PC, I would always format the hard drive and do a fresh install any time I wanted to upgrade or re-install the OS. Is it recommended to do the same on Mac? I am getting the new OSX next week and am wondering what I should do. Thanks!

I plan to just run the upgrade... Mind you I don't keep any non-essential files on the system drive.

If you have a dot mac account, it would be wise to do a really thorough back up before doing the upgrade. That's my plan. It might also be a good time to look at what is clogging up your hard drive that you don't really need or use. Spring cleaning...

The preview of features has me salivating. I bought my copy on amazon right after the pre-orders started.

Just backup your important stuff and then run the upgrade. That's what I love about mac over windows!!

backup, and upgrade, grab a beer, it will probably take an hour

I have upgraded probably 20-30 macs (i do IT durring the week), and over 100+ PC upgrades, never has a Mac upgrade gone badly. PC, well there's a reason you know to reinstall rather than upgrade wink.gif

Mine is on order, and i can't wait.

Sweet!! I keep all of my important files on a separate drive so no need to backup...I guess I will just run the upgrade and enjoy! Thanks everyone wink.gif
