I recently met with a bride who was interested in "registering" for her guests to purchase gift certificates for her showers and wedding gifts. I have heard of this before and love the idea. I was wondering if anyone currently does this and how you have it set up.

I was thinking of having some certificates printed up sp that the guests would have something to give to the bride....and package it all pretty of course.

I also love the idea of printing some registry cards like many stores have that are customized with the couple's engagement pictures....then this get my name out there too because I give a stack to my bride and she mails them for me!!!

My main question is how do I set it up for the clients to purchase these from me.....any ideas?

Thanks!

On our site we have a seperate Bridal Registry form to be filled out. We then send an online payment email with the amount they indicate. Couldn't be easier for us. But, we just came out with this & haven't had a bride us it yet. Not sure what we'll do as far as print ups go once we get people wanting to use the registry option. I definitely agree though that the consumer needs to have something to give to the bride & groom.

I think Robin (Bellisima) mentioned having something on her website where the guest could just fill out a form, name the bride and groom, and determine how much they wanted to contribute.

I don't do this (yet), but I know when I got married, I registered for my honeymoon through my travel agent. Guest could buy me a scuba dive adventure or lunch on a boat or a night in an overwater bungalow, etc. The registry more or less estimated the amount that that particular activity would cost and showed that amount so that guests could choose between various prices. In the end, they just applied the amount toward my package.

For a wedding package, you could list out different services depending on how you structure your package(s). Hours of photography, prints, album spreads, etc. It could work well. The only problem I see is that everyone gets to see how much the bride & groom are paying for your services and they may or may not like that. Maybe just a general contribution would be best.

I've thought about offering something like this for guest to purchase the couple pages for their album. But I have no idea how i'd implement it. Just a thougth

Cool idea. Not much to contribute except that you could use moo cards for your registered cards that the brides send out. www.moo.com I'm using them for online gallery info for brides to send out with their thank you cards.

My last Friday wedding used a gift registry for her photography with myself. She put a note in the invites that mentioned that she had a registry with myself with my number and email. Guests contacted me either way and asked to put money towards their photography. I let me pay in cash, direct deposit or cheque. I did up gift certificates for them to give on the day with their cards. Some guests didn't get a gift certificate as they lived out of town and alot of guests contacted me only days prior to the wedding. I didn't let guests know how much the photography was, i have only one package and request that clients pay in full 2 wks prior, so they had payed me in full and now they have a credit balance in which i will hold onto incase they upgrade their album or would like enlargements etc, but will give them the remaining amout left once that is all finalised. They know and are aware of this. I have a record of the guests names, numbers, addresses, and amounts in which they contributed.
This is the fist time i did this and was impressed at how much they received.

Would you be so kind as to point us to the URL so that we may view the form?

Oh I'm so glad you asked about this! I've been trying to figure out the logistics to this as well. I'd love to hear from someone who has set it up on their site.

I have not figured this out yet (just got it), but PickPic seems to have this ability built right into it. It is on my list of things to do this weekend - fully look through all of the options available that I haven't gotten to yet!

hi folks,

weird!!!! I was discussing this at the weekend. We use Photocart and there is a Bridal Registry built right into the package. We simply need to switch it on!

You can see our Photocart by going to www.welcometoventure.com and clicking on the Client Access link. I have set up access to a couple of galleries.

email: info@welcometoventure.com
password: visitor

That will give you access to 2 galleries. You will see the registry link. As I said, we have not done anything with it - not even looked at it yet!

oh, one more thing - I am happy to allow you to set up dummy registries, just let me know in some way. You know, mickey mouse as a user name, something like that. :-)
