I was shooting a wedding yesterday and during the processional my Canon 24-70 f/2.8 L kinda crapped out on me! When I grabbed it, it was at about 40mm or so and it wouldn't zoom in or out more than about 5mm. After the ceremony I managed to loosen it a little and it zooms in a little more, but it still won't zoom all the way out to 24mm or all the way in to 70mm. Has this happened to anyone before?

Don't mess with it anymore... send it in to Canon. They can fix it, but you can damage it more if you force it.
(I learned by experience!)
I think it cost me like $100+ shipping to have it fixed, and the turnaround was FAST.

Thanks, Carrie! I was planning to send it to them, I just thought it was the weirdest thing. I have never heard of that happening before.

Mine is starting to get really tight right there - I plan on sending it in after my October 27 wedding. Let us know how it goes

I _JUST_ sent mine in for a loose barrel and they charged me a little over $100 plus shipping as well. Pretty excited to get it back to factory wow.

Just wondering if you guys are members of Canon Professional Services? I haven't been charged for a repair yet so I'm curious if I was just lucky
