Here are a few pics from my first engagement session shoot ever.
I'm definitely learning a few things. I'll be happy to have a few of these under my belt.

Looks like you enjoyed your "first time" JT!! And they did too judging by your photos!! I'm particularly fond of the ones against the metal background....

...prolly cz I've got a dumpster at the the deli next door that looks just like that and it always makes a GREAT background!!

Great stuff!!

Thanks guys! I'm a big fan of the metal background as well!. I noticed that auto shop the day before and thought we would try it out!

And yes I did use my D70 with my 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 lens. The last picture was taken with the 70-200 f/2.8 lens. Hope that helps you guys out! Let me know if you want some more info. shutter/exposure?

Jason, here's the settings:
ISO:200
Shutter: 1/6
Aperture: 3.5
I was shooting at 18mm and had everything set manually.

There was a good amount of light downtown and the picture actually came out much lighter. I adjusted it in Camera RAW and then applied the free Urban Acid script from Photoshop Action Central Then I created a layer mask on the curves level and brushed over their faces to bring their faces back to normal color and lighting.

I just realized tonight that I was shooting it at 1/6th and just zoomed in on the pic and it is soo crisp. The were actually the darkest part of the scene so the flash was the only thing lighting them up, so that's probably why I didn't have a problem with that shutter speed. Just make sure to have a strong light on them and you'll be good.

Hope I caught you in time before your shoot this week!

Those are rocking JT! I really like the metal background ones!

If that was your first time out, I can't wait to see what your other ones are gonna look like after you've been out a few more times!

Engagement pictures are the best! You seriously just get to experiment with everything. It's so much fun!

Good job clap.gif Garrett and I are big fans of the urban look. Keep them coming!
