OK, so in the past week, I've hosted two workshops. It was a lot of work and I had a lot of things to set up. But it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

Zack Arias's OneLight Workshop in Raleigh was amazing. He's an incredible teacher and there is just a ton of real value in his presentation and hands-on shooting experience. You will think twice about putting your flash on-camera.

There's also value in hosting. I got a lot of one-on-one time with Zack and it was an absolute pleasure to watch him sleep at night. Just kidding, but not really.

I also made some amazing new friends and connections with people all around the state and beyond. Thanks, Zack for a truly awesome experience.

Here are a few shots from the Raleigh OneLight:

After the OneLight, I really had to bust my butt to get ready for Shoot with Beckstead in Wilmington. It was unreal and I really can't believe more people didn't take advantage of this opportunity.

I got to spend 2+ hours on the drive down with Beckstead. He's incredibly down to earth and just a funny and fun guy. I was so scared I was going to screw up his workshop, but it came together so well. We hit three fantastic locations: The Bellamy Mansion, the U.S.S. North Carolina and downtown Wilmington for some really cool urban pics.

Here are a few from that workshop:

So, for me, these workshops were about me taking my imagery to the next level. I know it's not always financially feasible to spend a lot on workshops, but I think everyone needs to think about picking at least one a year that really speaks to them. And don't be afraid to host: If a scatter-brained fool like me can do it, anyone can.

Man, Shane thats awesome!! Either of these seminars would be worth their weight in gold! The images you posted pretty much validate that! I have been wanting to do Zack's workshop for a long time, and I have been seeing the Shoot With Beckstead popping up in various places. Its great you got to host, and therefore get that little extra quality time!

Zach was here in Minneapolis and I missed it, I have been kicking myself ever since!

Great stuff Shane! Glad to hear it went well for BOTH workshops! And - I see you got lots out of it! I know Zack's workshops are always helpful, not sure about the sleeping part. Does he really sleep? smile.gif

Looking forward to seeing Shane's "next level" smile.gif

We're having one in Birmingham November 26-27.
We'd love to have you, and it's only a little over 2 hours away!

Uh... I wouldn't even pay for that one.

seeing the shoot with beckstead threads, I thought I would give this a bump.

Don't hesitate to sign up for a good shooting workshop. And beckstead and zack are holding a One Light/ Shoot with Beckstead intensive in Northern Calif. Amazing opportunity.
