Hi OSP!
Is there any difference between the "retail" version and the "educational" version of Adobe Lightroom? If yes, are they significant? Thank you in advance for your help!

There's no difference, but as per the licensing you legally can't make money using academic software... same goes for photoshop/illustrator/indesign etc.

Far as I know after calling Adobe & speaking to one of their support people, once you graduate, you can use the education software for paid work.

Well it's not like if you buy it senior year they're going to make you stop using something you bought and paid for just because you graduated.

actually the major difference with most software (LR included) is that educational version will allow ONE upgrade only - after that you are SOL...

Adobe actually rocks in this area! You are allowed to use the educational version to make money while you are in school. You can also upgrade to a regular version with no penalty. I did this with the creative suit without a problem. They have this listed on their site, just dig a little. I wish all software venders would follow Adobe on this!
