Our local news station just did a special on this, but it stated that John Michale Cooper was the starter and founder of the trash the dress buzz....and on their website, the link says trash the dress, but the viewer is then directed to his link. I guess I am confussed. Why wouldn't it just go to the trashthedress.com site? Did they get it wrong?
Maybe someone can fill me in on the history- I always thought Marc Eric was the guy that has brought this thing to life?????
I have given JMC credit in all of my interviews. I was inspired by an
article he wrote at the beginning of last year. The article was the first time I'd ever heard the term "trash the dress". I pitched it to one of my Brides in New York, she went crazy insane over the idea- so we did a small session in a fountain after her wedding. I originally registered the domain just for her slideshow.
As more people started posting sessions on OSP and other forums, i thought it may be a good buzz builder to have one place where everyone could share- the rest is history.
I've never taken credit for coming up with the concept- I only ran with an idea. I contacted John before launching the blog- he was very excited about the idea. He told me recently that he's always been able to knock down walls with photographers, but he struggled with tearing down walls and preconceptions in the bridal market.
He was excited about how the site has helped knock down walls in the bridal market- opening up their eyes to creative photography.
