Ok so I have a question.... Ah! I can see it in my head, I know what I want as far as branding goes, I just have no idea where to begin with making it/finding someone to make it for me. Does anyone have any tips for me or graphic designer referrals? I am definitely on a tight tight budget getting this little business of mine started and so that is why I am struggling. What did you guys do when you were starting up?

the idea I had for a logo was simple, so I made it myself. Depending on what you want, it might be a bigger job than you can do. Do you have a real clear picture in your head for the look you want? That is the biggest first step.

I've heard it suggested to create a barter between your business and a local graphic arts student. It is hard to say. they are every where in Tampa. Other areas may be harder to find one.

Feel free to bounce ideas if you like. If it's clear and simple I might be able to give you a starting place.

Honestly?

I made my own in Photoshop (and I still do).

You can spend $$$$$ and it won't matter unless you are constantly getting it out to an audience who can get you biz. IMeversoHO you should spend your time creating e-mail campaigns, sending postcards to venues, and getting your name out to potential clients.

I did this and got 34 weddings my first year. Without spending a penny to a designer, or placing a single ad in a magazine or on the web.

Cheers,
Eric

Thanks guys for the input--great idea about the graphic design student thing--and wow Eric, 34 weddings your first year?! that's not too shabby at all... I'm thinking I need to draw this thing out and then I can possibly present it to a student or something? It's definitely not something I can do--it incorporates swirls and such smile.gif
