I'm a little late jumping in but here goes...
For all those of you who wanted to be architects, feel free to take my job

yup. That is my current occupation.
I always wanted to be an astronaut or pilot, something that involved flying. But I also wanted to be an artist, a mom, a writer, an illustrator, a teacher, a baker, and most of all, happy.
The funny thing is I only wanted to be an architect briefly on a whim at the end of highschool (which is when you apply to college...) I got in, six years of school, and voila - architect. Now I'm working on figuring out what I REALLY want to do when I "grow up" and I'm thinking of taking the leap to photography.

I wanted to be a pro soccer player. I starting playing when I was five but blew my knee out at the ripe old age of thirteen and although I had surgery and played again it was never the same. Also when I was about 7 I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper!

I wanted to be a news reporter.....just like Lois Lane! I guess in hopes of one day meeting Superman and getting to fly over the city night-lights with him. *sigh*
I did get a job as a journalist right out of college, and that's what led me to the realization that yes, I loved to tell the story, I just was meant to do it with pictures for a living, which can say so much more than words.

I wanted to be a pilot and an astronaut, or maybe an actress, lol, can't you see how those things go hand in hand?? I actually did entertain the idea of being a photographer as well, but it faded until recent years.
The funny part is that I always loved art of any sort. I always took extra art and science classes, but rarely did the idea of professional artist creep into my mind, even thought others suggested it.

I thought I wanted to be a doctor--but only because my dad convinced me that it would be a great choice--and you always want daddy to be proud...I was only about 7 maybe.
As I grew up I changed my mind to a Psychologist b/c it was still a doctor (PhD) and yet it dealt with analyzing people and helping them to figure out who they are......I even got a degree in Psych, but then realized that my true love has always been with art.
Photography gives me a way to incorporate my artistic side into my love of figuring people out. Plus life changed my plans when I feel in love with my husband and had 2 kids....I say follow your heart and keep your mind open...I really mostly just dreamed of being happy and I am, so I guess it doesn't matter how it happened.

When I was little I told my mom I wanted to be a "Strawberry Picker" in california like some migrants do. I thought it wonderful you got paid to pick and eat strawberries.
Then I wanted to be an astronaut and I was reallly smart with science and nerdy.

When you were little what did you dream of being when you grew up?

"little" can mean any age younger than you are now...

Seriously? What DIDN'T I dream of being? Here's everything I ever wanted to be at one point in my life (other than a photographer, of course!)
~An artist (as far as I know, this was the first thing I ever wanted to be.)
~A "waiteress" (I spelled it that way, too:))
~a vet. (I love animals)
~16-years old
~pro figure skater or tennis player
~astronomer
~ultrasonographer
~meterologist
~pastor
~pyschologist
~marriage counselor
(I love science, and social science!)
~creative director at an advertising agency
~a lawyer
~motivational speaker (I DID get voted Most School Spirit in high school...!:-D)
~a DJ (an on-air personality...not to be confused with "a David Jay!" Although some people
probably wouldn't mind being DJ! haha!)
~videographer
~illustrator for children's books
~business owner
~entreprenuer
~musician
~art teacher of some sort
~consultant (there's no way I know enough to be there yet, ha!)
~a mom
~fashion photographer
~writer
That's all I got for now! I'm sure I'll come up with more, since there is still time to dream!

You still have time! There's on old lady on some cable channel... the show is called "Sex Talk" or something like that... I watched it once for about 2 minutes and I couldn't take it! It was like my grandma telling me about sex!! Not ok!!!
But hey-- if she can do it, you can too-- at no matter what age! haha!

I was one of those lucky kids that was never pressured into "being" something. That being said, I did everything artistic growing up (theater, illustration, pottery...you name it). I knew back then that art was something I would continue...photography made sense one day one my buddy said "its like drawing...only faster". He basically assured me that sense I liked figure drawing and shading etc. I would like photography...thanks Ariel...you the man. Wherever you are!

I'm so surprised that so many other girls wanted to be an astronaut. I thought I was the only one! I used to save my pennies hoping that I would have enough to go to Space Camp in Alabama at NASA training center. My parents encouraged my dreams, buying me telescopes, taking me to air shows, visiting NASA, etc....but then I got into junior high school & realized that I would never make it as an astronaut b/c I was terrible at math! Reality...the killer of dreams! lol.
