DJ? Forest?

I know Showit Web has been stealing all the spotlight lately, but what is the status of showit effects? What is in the pipeline for future effects and enhancements? When do you anticipate them coming out?

We are just ramping up on new effects for Showit Effects. There is a new Lomo effect on the store and Nathan & Amber (www.holritzphotography.com) are working with me to get two more effects out next week.

I am also working on some Sepia effects. Stay tuned.

What kinds of effects do you all want for Showit? You name it and we can probably make it happen.

Great! Is this new lomo effect the same as your standalone lomo 1?

I see the washed lomo is $9.99 -- are all additional effects going to cost money?

Power line removal. Beautifier (beer goggle effect). Back-focus fixer. Video-guy-removal-from-the-center-of-the-aisle effect. Brooksifier (better photographer effect) thumbsup.gif

Seriously, now. I think a couple "lomo-like" effects would be good. Some images look like they'd be perfect for lomo, but then don't turn out quite like I thought they would. Sorry I can't be more specific than that. A few more "cross-process" effects (maybe with a choice when you hit the "cross-process button like Jim's border effect). Along with the sepia effect, maybe put other colors in there as a choice, too.

I don't use ShowIT effects yet. (I know I know...shame on me) But I will very soon. I wonder when you use multiple effects, are they applied one at a time? I imagine they are, otherwise I could see layering issues...so, wouldn't an effect mixer with sliders be cool?

You can get the same result by having three files of the same image for three different effects and then copying those images to separate layers in the final file and mix the opacities...but wouldn't it be cool if you start ShowIT effects with the following:

Q: "How many effects do you want?"
A: "X"
Q: "Which X effects do you want?"

And then have ShowIT produce the three effects as separate groups of layers.

Don't even know if it's A) necessary or cool.gif possible, but it's a thought.

Yes Washed Lomo is the same as Lomo 1 from the Lomo Effects script. Just thought I'd give it a better name than Lomo 1. smile.gif

We are planning on having some freebee effects. Look for one very soon.

Hmm. I would think that would go against the whole ShowItFAST™®© way of doing things. I could see that for the ShowItPrint™ module, though. That would be WayCool™

Yeah -- washed lomo is better than lomo 1.

Looking forward to the freebies!!!!

Thanks for your work on this. It is way cool!

How about some duotone effects. I love duotones. They'd be easy to do to. Maybe I should do that, eh?

Sepia would be cool. So would some other processing types like tinotype, cyanotype, palladium, lith prints, etc.

Lith would be _awesome_ for thos high iso prints where there's already lots of noise.

Well not an effect, but I would like to be able to specify the number of rows/columns of buttons that are on each page. 4x3 isn't enough. Having multiple pages is nice, but not having to page at all is even better.

A couple that I wished were in there yesterday. Brighten and darken. Sometimes the picture overall is pretty dark but has some blown highlights so the auto correct doesn't work.

A simple midtone-boost (or reduction) would be great for those images that could be good but the dang flash didn't recycle fast enough.

Not too much, because it could be applied a few times if the image was really dark.

I know, I know, our images should be perfect right out of the camera. tongue.gif

Forest, I figured out how to change the number of effects on the 1st page from a 4x3 to a 4x4 so that I never need to switch between pages. Pretty easy actually. It makes it much more usable. While in Atlanta, I was watching Nathan use showit effects and he was jumping between page 1 and page 2 of the effects. It slowed down his workflow. Do you plan to make this an option soon? Do you care if I tell people how to do it or or would you prefer to do it?

Jim, I'm working on an update now. Should be ready in the next 3-4 weeks. I'm adding support for processing full res images (psd, jpg, raw, tiff, etc.), save options (location, type, quality), and I will add settings for the number of rows and cols (needs a little UI work to look good when it is wider). Oh yeah, and an installer.

AWESOME!!!! I was helping Garrett over the weekend modify his script so that it would save full quality jpgs, so that is very needed. Can't wait for the new version! I use showit effects very often and it is amazing that my wish list is pretty limited. It is a testament to the awesome design you originally came up with!

Speaking of wishlist stuff, I was wondering if there's any way that Effects can go back to the last action state prior to whatever effect you've applied, rather than going back to the original saved state each time. Here's the scenario I come across a lot.

I open up a file, apply my small S-curve and sharpening action, and then bring up Showit Effects to apply some of these awesome actions. I apply an action, say nahhhhhhhh, press Undo, and it takes me back to the original state, without the action I put in. I'd like to be able to try multiple actions after I've been working on a file... is this really tough? I know I can adjust my workflow, but it would be a nice enhancement...

Thanks for all your great work, I love it!

This is a very valid use case. I will put this on the todo list.

Thanks for all the great ideas. And keep 'em coming. These programs are meant to make your lives easier, so tell us how.

I know. I know. That's what I get for giving a time line. I actually have a really good excuse. My wife and I are buying our first house and we have been a little swamped this last month. Once we move in 1st of the year things will get back to normal and I can get back to coding.

Thanks for being patient.
