Full Version: Not a real Member on OSP?

So I had heard that OSP had grown pretty large, even before I joined with you all last year! But I think I figured something out tonight...! I was searching to see if a friend has a page on here, sadly they did not, but even more sadly, I found that there are a number of people who have profile pages that were started but never used! blink.gif
So, correct me if I am wrong, but when the tally is done on how many OSPers there are on here, wouldn't everyone who has a profile page be counted on that role?
Just seems odd to me! I wonder if there is a way to have these names purged off? Maybe if people don't use their OSP even to check it every now and then, maybe should be taken off, (with plenty of email warnings of course!)...I know I would not want to be on that boat to lose my access to this great wealth of information!

Oh well, just my spare change on the idea!

Thanks!

Anybody ever think about this or is this a lost cause? unsure.gif

well...it's an interesting idea, but i'm not sure what the impact would be? we don't really use the number for anything, so it's not really worth much hassle. and a lot of members get an account, are real photographers, and read the forum like crazy....but it takes them 3 months (or 6 or 9 or 36) before they feel comfortable posting.

we might be able to do some sort of statistic to find out how many members were active in the past 60 days, and I think that would be easier and more accurate. but our fearless leader and admin dude are both a little busy right now. smile.gif

May I ask why this is important to you?
It's totally irrelevant to me but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks.

Awe, to be honest with ya, this is not a hill to die on for me or should be for anyone else! I was trying to look up a bud and found a number of people who literally just have the page, with nothing on it, not even a name...and they were created a long time ago! I have seen it happen on myspace before and other sites...but it kinda reminded me of the old church rosters that kept the names on the roles for years and years...even after they were long dead! unsure.gif
Some churches are not a big (people wise) as they claim to be with all those literally dead names on their list!

Just seemed like a waste to me and i was wondering if we could purge them off?

So thats my thoughts on it!

Brent you're witty - you need to write Hallmark cards - i'm sure they'd be the type to make little kids cry... but funny none the less.

I think most people have a lot on their plates.
