Ok so this has nothing to do with photography, sorry. I received a phone call this morning from my wife who has been in Afghanistan for about 4 1/2 months now. She told me she finally got a flight out of there and is now sitting in Manas, Kyrgyzstan. She has to sit there for the next day and a half until she gets to leave to head back to the states. She will then have to stay the night in Baltimore, MD and then gets to head home. The boys and I are so excited for her to come home and be able to give her lots of hugs . Sorry I just had to share this with everyone.

Thanks guys, for some reason this has been so hard I guess it is because I am usually the one who is over in the sand box and she is at home taking care of the kids. I was in Iraq for 9 months and it didn't seem as hard to be away from her as it has been for the last 4 1/2 months. I just seperated from the Air Force so we didn't have to be apart for sometimes more then a year at a time. But the wait is almost over.

Treat her with exceptional love and kindness!

And I'm sure she would love a nice, long foot rub or lovely spa treatment.

I was wondering about the documenting thing. Because you always see these things- and I keep forgetting to ask you. Are there a whole bunch of people that come home together...I would love to take pictures of it all....but I leave here you live there. Maybe some other OSPer can come and do it for you!

Wow this is so wonderful that she is coming home! I am so happy for you. I always said it was easier being the one leaving vs. staying when I use to travel for work (nothing like this though) thank you to you and your wife for the service you have done.

OK now I am a little upset but first I want to say thank you to those replies. OK let's see it started when I was in San Diego this weekend second shooting and I was backing out of an alley with the brand new van I bought for my wife and rubbed the front bumper on a curb ($630).

Now today I was able to drop the kids of at a place where once a month they will watch kids of families who have members deployed, OK I thought this would be a perfect time for me to go out and catch a few good shots of the nature we have here on base. Well I get out to a place that for one has no cell service , I know this day in age you would think that would not be the case. I noticed it was getting real close to the time I thought I needed to pick the boys up so I tried to find my way out. That was not so easy as I tried all the gates were locked so I turned around to go back the way I came from well as I was hurrying back I guess I hit a rock the wrong way and it sliced the inside of the tire. I got out to change it really worried now because I needed to get the boys. Well even with all my military training on changing tires the way it was sitting I was unable to lift it up so I just left it there and took off running to go find a paved road (2 miles later and out in the middle of an area that mountain lions, bobcats, and coyotes have been spotted) I find a road and lucky enough the base police were just driving by as I came out.

Sorry this is so long I just need to vent a little.

OK so I get back to pick the kids up and find out I still had over an hour before I needed to pick them up. I got home and got a hold of my insurance company to send a tow truck out so I can get my truck back tonight because I still had all my camera gear inside it. We get out to the gate that was closest to my truck and the cops came out with a so called key to unlock it but no such luck, so they told me to call around 9:00 am when the guys with the key will be in. So tonight I sit here worried that nothing happens to my gear and oh yeah my truck as well.

So I guess that was my vent thanks for letting me share this with you. Now I can say one thing "when it rains it pores"

So after all that venting do you feel all "air-conditioned out?"

I noticed your earlier post said your wife had to wait for a week or so to get a flight back to the states. No doubt the excitement and anxiety is building for you and the kids as it gets closer to your wife's return

Have you identified someone to go along to photograph the reunion? I wish I lived closer, I'd be there in a heartbeat.

I feel better now. Even though I made sure to lock the door so no one would open it up and take the camera gear, I over looked rolling the window up.




She is now sitting in a hotel in Baltimore which makes me feel better. She will be getting in tomorrow night around 11:45 so we are so excited now. I haven't really looked to see if someone would come and photograph the reunion. I guess I should have thought about it more. I guess I could set the camera up on a tripod and set the remote to take pictures aver few seconds or so.

Thank you,I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight now.Still there thank goodness. come to think about it it is still in the truck, I better go and get it out. I just realized my sister was going to meet up with you about a week ago down there in SD but you were at a show in LA. So how did that go? I wish we could have met up with you and checked out your shop.

Now we need to find someone to get some good pictures of her coming home and some good beach shots for a nice canvas- I know pixels 2 canvas does an awesome job with theirs....to bad we didn't think of it earlier. I know you wanted a nice canvas of the boys to give her when she got home....you will still have to get her one, it will just have to be late.
