hello wonderful people : )

if you've read any of my posts, you may already know that i'm a huge believer in the importance of exploration and discovery, and the many amazing benefits of sharing our experiences and discoveries with each other : )

i think we all are more connected than is apparent,,, kind of like cells in a vast organism, individual but part of something like a body. i try to keep more of a world view in mind when i decide what to do with my time, and i like for the projects i commit to to have signifcance and add value to as many as are interested.

in that interest, i'm going to be holding a little people's choice contest on my journal and i'd love to see some OSP'ers share the love,,, i've seen a lot of gorgeous work here since i've joined, and i'd be honored to have anyone who is interested participate : )

it is humbly begun, as most things are, but i believe it could become a valuable source of inspiration.

exploration isn't always easy, but it's always the forerunner of advancement. i want to create a venue to showcase and encourage people who are pushing the boundaries,,,

even if you don't want to submit any entries, i hope you check out the nominations and vote for your fav's : )

Question:
Can the images in the "experiential" category have uber-post-processing (ala textures, etc), or is that reserved for that 3rd category?

I find it harder to stretch myself in-camera, at the session, which is what I really need to work on.
I sometimes put off the creative & experimental stuff until I'm safe at home, alone at the computer... cowardly, I know.

we've received waaay more entries than i was thinking we'd get for this first one with such short notice, lol.

it's going to be sooo hard to narrow them down,,,

remember that the primary reason for this is to help inspire and open all of us to new ideas - i really hope y'all will vote for your fav's when they get released!!!

awhhhhhh how cool. I totally missed this and I have a great image for this competition. Oh well, will you be doing a competition like this soon again?

there were *so* many awesome images it was incredibly difficult to pick the nominees. no one should be discouraged by not getting nominated. just keep trying. doing well in competitions involves no small degree of chance, as everyone sees things differently - and sometimes a particular judge may not be a good fit with your work.

ultimately, i think the benefit of competitions is not in feeling good or bad because you did well or didn't, but use it as an opportunity to share, learn and grow : )

i very much appreciate everyone who entered. and there were many images that i absolutely loved that didn't make it!!!
