I can't believe it's finally been one year here on OSP. I say "finally" not as a sheesh that took forever what a drag. But because I can't believe that in such a short amount of time I can learn so much that I thought would have taken years to learn.
I had found this forum through obsession and love for wedding photography. I initially probably spent maybe a year? browsing through WPJA going state to state (and countries) checking out many award winning photographer website. There were so many incredible impressive websites, and then I landed on guess who? DJ's, and that's the first time I saw the slideshow. I was so impressed by it I pretty much showed anyone that came to my house (whether they cared for photography or not hehe) and so I wandered back and forth between other websites again, came periodically to check his site again for updates always wanting to see more and something new. I did notice that he had a forum and thought well why not check it out and maybe I even get to talk to this photographer...and so long story short, here I am. And yes my first impression was that there are so many good looking people on this site (seriously! smile.gif haha sorry so random ). Anyhoo, I came from not knowing
what a telephoto/prime lens was,
what really was the significance of apertures and shutter speeds,
why certain lenses were better than others,
used to love that super blurry overphotoshopped picture,
had NO idea how to take night photography,
NO idea that flashes can be used to make cool pictures (off camera),
NO idea what a pocket wizard was,
NO idea how to take awesome pictures even in the middle of the blazing freakin' day,
NO idea about kevin kubota actions,
NO idea about all these cool awesome talented photographers that I now constantly get inspiration from day to day.
NO idea how to do off camera photography
NO idea how to see the light, how to see what the camera sees
I still need to keep on learning but you all made me a growing genius!!
No ok, I'm not a genius, not even close to one, BUT I don't think I would have gone from knowing nearly nothing to knowing this much in such a short time, so I just want to say thank you. And especially to DJ because of this forum because at least for me, this is how much of a positive change that this group has fostered of sharing information effected me and I have grown THIS much (and more I can't remember and list it all, too much information) and more because of you guys.
SO thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

(I wish I could have wrote this out cooler, but this is as good as my writing gets, I know not that skilled but I just had to write this out and let you all know).
