Retouched Celebs - before & afters

Click on the Portfolio link & it'll bring up thumbs of images which, once you click & then hover over, will give you the before & after of the image, eg Eva's thighs get more shapely and her stomach area is made smaller, Beyonce's muffin top disappears and there's lots of skin retouching. Other than making me feel less guilty for not having been to the gym for the past four days (!), the retouching on the skin & the pp work is pretty interesting to see.

Awesome site Sofie!
I love that kind of stuff.
The re-shaping is especially interesting

no wonder some of them can go un-made up in public and not be noticed!

Very intersesting, but generally I think it's a prime example of retouching gone overboard. Brittany Murphy was retouched into obscurity! Without those under-eyes bags, she just doesn't looks like herself! He basically removes ALL skin texture, all traces of fat/and/or muscle, and the touch-up around the eyes has a plastic look.

Thanks for that Sofie...

REALLY cool! I have another site a bit like that one bookmarked www.fluideffect.com
BUT it's been down for 'maintenance' for weeks now. I used to love going there for inspiration....and a BIG reminder that no-one is as perfect as they may seem. I'll definately bookmark this site you posted.

I have intentions of including a rollover style page of before and afters on my new site. It's a big part of what I do for my clients, and it always really WOWS them when I personally show them retouching results on my computer. I'm hoping for many it would be a real 'clincher' if they saw what can be done while browsing my site. The only problem is asking clients permission to display to the world their 'before' image...... ha ha ha

I wonder what those 'celebs' think of that site? Mmmmm....I wonder!

I'm hardly saying what they do is right, simply saying I found it interesting to see those before & after shots. If I wasn't a photographer, I wouldn't have believed it if anyone simply told me just what retouchers are capable of doing so last week I showed an anorexic teen the shot of Beyonce to prove to her that they aren't all they're cracked up to be in their images. It IS wrong that a lot of general public haven't got really got a clue that maybe the camera doesn't lie but Photoshop sure does. It was a real eye-opener for the kid & I only wish more teens could see the before shots.

Oh, I totally understand that!! I think you're right... the general public don't really may not know what sort of "improvements" are made on most of the photos that they see in magazines and the like.

Sofie thanks for the link. Love stuff like that. Now I need to learn how to use that dang liquify tool in PS read2.gif

oh that makes me so happy. nice reminder that everyone has flaws smile.gif

Most of those are extremely overdone - but that's the style for cover shots on a lot of magazines now. Plus you have to be able to do something with a hungover supermodel or celebrity.

But the last shot shows what's wrong with doing this as a matter of course. The girl is much prettier before the retouching.

Technically I find it fascinating.

Socially, I find it really disturbing. There was a study a while ago about how women felt about themselves after reading fashion magazines. The plumet in self esteem was really shocking.

I love the idea of doing before and afters. On some level its playing into this, but on another level, I hope that (my) work can help women (and men) realise their own beauty.

wow, no wonder it's so bad to compare bodies to this stuff.

you girls especially have it hard in this area.

i'm all about making the image amazing and as good as it can be but i hate the affect it has on the female body image.

I wish I was that good in PS!
