QUOTE(Hugh Anderson @ August 31 2007, 09:27 AM)

Me again,
Mike I read your post again. I wanted to ask you about this business of having to "answer to God" about this prank.
Did I not read something, somewhere, about forgiveness? Wasn't there some issue about sins being forgiven, or Jesus dying for our sins. I realize that my words are probably inaccurate, but I just want t know this.
Hugh, I know that you directed your question to Mike, but as a fellow believer and one who finds this video disgusting I will try to help you understand.
Forgiveness is a gift from God through His son Jesus Christ.
Jesus died on the cross for mankinds sins - past, present and future.
But you still have to (as Jesus said) Ask, Seek & Knock... meaning, you cannot recieve this free gift w/o first seeking forgiveness, and then asking for it once the door has been opened to you.
It's like this - Say someone came up to you and asked you to come to his office because he has a gift for you. Not one to turn down a free gift, you happily go and find out that this persons desk is piled up with gold bars. And he tells you that you are free to have as much of that gold as you like. You can't believe it - so you walk away w/o taking any of the gold.
The offer is there, but you did not take it was promised to you.
So do you have the gold or just the promise of the gold?
Forgiveness works the same way. You have to first believ it to be real, as it is stated throughout Holy Scripture - and then you have to claim what is offered to you.

Are you saying that it is your belief that we will all be held accountable for ALL of our "sins"? Are you saying that nothing short of perfection in this area will do? Let me know what you mean please.
Romans 3:23 states -
For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
It is because of mankind's sinful nature that Jesus (perfect God & perfect Man) paid our debt of sin for us. Like the guy with the gold bars. His death and resurrection is our 'get out of jail free' card.
Regarding perfection, and I know this will sting many who claim to follow the words of our Lord Jesus, he said in the Gospel of Matthew to all who were listening to him (5:48):
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. We CAN be perfect - click this
LINK for more information regarding perfection in the scriptures. It is our calling as humans to be perfect, and to throw off the worldly and
inconvenient things.
Now, regarding everyone here who is acting like - "hey, it's no big deal, we're just having some fun." As a father of 6 kids all I can say is what a childish way for adults to behave.
As little as 10 years ago the majority would not have approved of David's actions.
Things sure have changed and we are clearly in the Apostasy.
Jesus asked a rhetorical question in Luke 18:8b -
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
And I have 1 more thing to say regarding this matter and all matters of Christian faith.
We need to check ourselves constantly in light of the Scriptures if we are to claim Jesus as our Saviour. And here is one I am always convicted by:
Jesus said in Luke 6 -
[24] But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
[25] Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
[26] Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.
I say and repeat all the above will all love and tenderness as a of a follower of Jesus.
Non of what I say, do or quote is meant to be hateful, unkind or judgemental - if you feel convicted, uncomfortable or 'judged', then that is simply the Holy Spirit working on your soul. Please do not shoot the messenger(s).
God Bless and please do not hold any roots of bitterness towards anyone here who has spoken their mind. I know I won't.
