Thats what I've been thinking, that the post should have been titled,

"Special Moment with Mike's colon"

I would be interested in what Mike or his wife thinks.
Hugh Anderson
ohhhh, I have been following this thread, and said my piece earlier. But the "Colon-oscopy" and the Special Moment with Mikes Colon" in te last 2 posts REALLY!!!!!! made me laugh.

Actually, I am trying to type this message, while laughing heartily, really, I am in fits of laughter!

If there were people offended by the video, they sure as heck will be offended now. One more thing, I am starting to feel a little left out in here. Much, I am sure, to the disgust and/or disbelief of many people in this forum, I am a disbeliever. And here we have verse after verse, spewed forth on the basis of one very funny video.

I can only imagine what will erupt should someone do something really close to the bone!!!

Hey, recently I was going to post a photo of me, on my honeymoon and shot by my wife, of me jumping out of the ocean while skinny dipping, and a well placed spurt of sea water covering my important bits (we were on an island alone) Really, I think it is such an amusing photo. (hey, it was a really BIG spurt of water :-) ) Anyway, I am SO glad I never posted it, I would be expecting the four horsemen to be arriving a my door any moment.

Fun is fun, lets not spoil it guys and gals by getting so very serious.

Oh and...heheh...Hugh, you'd be fine I am sure. It's usually the guys touching other guy's butts in a sexual that sends some witnesses into a holy tizzy. Otherwise, it might have been a blushing pass. Man on man humor! Ah well...

Tami, that is freakin hilarious. I would send that to my mom, but I think she would be very confused.

QUOTE(Ryan J @ August 29 2007, 06:25 PM) *
None of us are not responsible for the actions of other people. David doesn't answer to anyone but God, and that won't be for a while, God-willing. He knows what he intended and he knows the effect of what he did and he doesn't owe anyone an explanation. In my upbringing, Christ had an incredible sense of humor and laughed heartily, though those passages were likely lost to time. I think it's important that when we feel the urge to moralize (like I am doing THIS VERY MINUTE) that we check ourselves and reflect on our responsibilities and if some of those are to the community, then fine, but they tend to be mostly to ourselves.

Our lives are full of temptation, greed and chances to sin. We are responsible for our own reactions to those things and Christ told us that we have free will as he did. We are all adults here and are fully capable of metabolizing that video as we see fit. Christ didn't demand anyone come to him, nor did he give anyone the right to judge another or demand they explain themselves to his community. Part of his calling was to shrug off the autocracy of the Romans and some of the Rabbis who had decided they were gods on earth and used that power to control and segregate the peoples in order to maintain that power.

Go ahead and witness, proselytize and spread your word, but is it really appropriate to publicly introduce shame or grief where none existed before? It doesn't seem the way of Christ, nor is it (in a lesser form) the way of the internet forum.

I respect EVERYone's right to proclaim their beliefs and exult in the glory of whatever god they choose. But if you choose to use religion and the word of Christ as an instrument of shame, yes, you should prepare to feel the wrath of the masses, especially when that instrument is used toward someone who is beloved in a community (and very respected as a Christian from what I understand from many people). Acknowledging you may be flamed doesn't inherently mean you are a martyr...it may just mean you are wrong and you've overreached your bounds, especially of humility.

It doesn't seem Christ-like to judge or heap scorn, especially on those who have fostered this joyous, inclusive and loving community that I have recently been introduced to. Can we just share love, take photos and raise our common respect for loving unions between respectful people to the highest!

Jesus was a libertarian!!!!

Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY D.J.! Thanks for bringing some laughter into my day!

I think this is hilarious!

I see nothing wrong with it, it is just a bottom!

Granted DJ and Mike are NOT married so this would technically fall under pre-marital fondling. However since Mike didn't ENJOY it I guess it escapes the fondling clause and falls into the "violation of the 6 inch rule" which so many church ladies believe to be the 11th commandment. So DJ shame on you for violating the 6 inch rule (6 inch rule is that boys and girls cannot get closer than 6 inches it is an old christian lady rule), next time you should probably just spank him (that would have been hilarious!) because altough you would be violating the six inch rule, it would have lasted for less than a few seconds so you would have been excused by the 3 second ruleWhich doesn't really do anything except when something touches something else for less than 3 seconds it gets less germs.

If you need any more church lady rule explinations, just ask me, my Dad is a Baptist Preacher and he is a HUGE prankster and he would always say "well I think I just broke THAT Christian rule"

Scott,
The 'mic" used was public because DJ chose to post the video in a public forum (not in private).

You said,
"This does not make this video sinful in any way. "

In testing whether, as a Christian I can feel that I am doing God's will I use three tests..

1) Who is getting the glory? (Is Jesus? or am I or others) Put another way, can I put the name of Jesus on this action?
2) Is it Biblical.
3) Am I at peace with this action.

Watching this video, I know I couldn't answer yes to all three. As mentioned before, I hold David to a higher standard as a thought leader in this community. More importantly, as a professing Christian (as I understand he is...) I hold him to the standards Jesus Himself set for holiness and Godliness.

Sin -- at its very root.. is *Not* doing God's will. If the three tests above fail.. then yes, the actions in the video are indeed..sinful.

Am I holding David to impossible standards? Only if we try to live up to them in our human strength. If we are simply conduits for the limitless power of God through Christ, than nothing is impossible...

I flinch when having to think how David will have to answer to God regarding this "prank" and how he might have impacted this community by setting a different standard of Godliness and holiness, acting as salt and light for a world that doesn't know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

I say this as to a younger brother, in hopes that he take is in the spirit it is offered, in brotherly love and humility, knowing that I too, fail to live up to the standards Jesus has set for all those that take His name...

May we see each other through grace filled eyes,
Mike

I am pretty sure everyone is confused because the "mic" that has been used to scold DJ is not a private letter or email, but a public forum.

There was nothing sinful or intentionally offensive, one could say it was distasteful maybe, but taste is a matter of opinion. What is distasteful to my mother may not be distasteful to me. This does not make this video sinful in any way.

I personally thought it was hilarious and I think DJ just could not help himself with that hot Mike Colon right there... Ladies can I get an AMEN!

I actually see no reason why Tami should reconsider. Mike, you are so HEEEAAAAVVVVYYYY.

I personally feel like this is a fun forum. I do not understand why a little fun between some friends has degenerated into such a heavy biblical epic.

Mike, you said ..

1) Who is getting the glory? (Is Jesus? or am I or others) Put another way, can I put the name of Jesus on this action?

Listen, as a non believer I know little about your chosen path, but I am reasonably sure, in everything I ever saw or read, that there was nothing about "Thou shall have no fun whatsoever" in the scripture. (Is that he right terminology??) Who said we had to put the name of Jesus to this prank?

I cannot believe that you are suggesting that if your "tests" are failed then the video is "sinful". Mike, how boring do you want peoples life at a party to be? Oh, bet that gets me flamed. Sorry, but I am sure that there are many readers on the verge of speaking out in a more blunt manner. SINFUL? No way on earth!!!!!

Anyway, I have many opinions on many things, as we all do. What I don't do is impart all of those opinions on others. If I come across as being a little intolerant, that's because I believe the reactions to this post to be downright silly.

Really, anyone else that thinks about posting a funny moment will now surely stop and think long and hard about the consequences. As I said in an earlier post, I had a funny image I was going to put up - now I feel that I will be damned forever if I do! (A long stretch of imagination for a non believer, right?)

Mike, sorry my friend, but you are choking ALL of the fun out of this.

Well free speech is one thing but maybe personal insults are another. Im not a church going person ( haven't been in 30 yrs ) and maybe I don't agree with Mike but I do respect his beliefs. Reducing the debate to insults shows a complete lack of respect for a fellow human being. You are doing to Mike exactly the opposite to what you are preaching shouting down his right to free speech Free speech is for everyone along with respect.

Maybe this debate has now run its course and we should put it to bed.

Reducing it to personal insults? What insults? Sorry, but I think that to accuse someone of being "sinful" is actually a personal insult. Maybe you view it as a "nice" way of putting it, but surely an insult nonetheless.

I did not say that Mike should not speak, I just disagree with his heavy handed view of the whole issue. If you view my posts as being disrespectful, then you are reading more into them than there actually is.

Here is the thing - there is a difference between an argument and a debate. I see nothing wrong with entering into a debate, and everyone saying what they think within reason. If you view that as "disrespectful" then I am sorry you feel that way.

The thing is, I was not the one who started judging others. Hey, isn't there also something in the bible about not judging others? Something about casting the first stone? If there is, then isn't there a lot of hypocrisy flying around here?

Anyway, to me it is friendly banter for the most part. Sorry if you are offended, that is certainly not my intention. biggrin.gif

Hugh, I know that you directed your question to Mike, but as a fellow believer and one who finds this video disgusting I will try to help you understand.

Forgiveness is a gift from God through His son Jesus Christ.
Jesus died on the cross for mankinds sins - past, present and future.
But you still have to (as Jesus said) Ask, Seek & Knock... meaning, you cannot recieve this free gift w/o first seeking forgiveness, and then asking for it once the door has been opened to you.

It's like this - Say someone came up to you and asked you to come to his office because he has a gift for you. Not one to turn down a free gift, you happily go and find out that this persons desk is piled up with gold bars. And he tells you that you are free to have as much of that gold as you like. You can't believe it - so you walk away w/o taking any of the gold.

The offer is there, but you did not take it was promised to you.
So do you have the gold or just the promise of the gold?

Forgiveness works the same way. You have to first believ it to be real, as it is stated throughout Holy Scripture - and then you have to claim what is offered to you. thumbsup.gif

QUOTE
Are you saying that it is your belief that we will all be held accountable for ALL of our "sins"? Are you saying that nothing short of perfection in this area will do? Let me know what you mean please.

Romans 3:23 states -
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

It is because of mankind's sinful nature that Jesus (perfect God & perfect Man) paid our debt of sin for us. Like the guy with the gold bars. His death and resurrection is our 'get out of jail free' card.

Regarding perfection, and I know this will sting many who claim to follow the words of our Lord Jesus, he said in the Gospel of Matthew to all who were listening to him (5:48):
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

We CAN be perfect - click this LINK for more information regarding perfection in the scriptures. It is our calling as humans to be perfect, and to throw off the worldly and inconvenient things.

Now, regarding everyone here who is acting like - "hey, it's no big deal, we're just having some fun." As a father of 6 kids all I can say is what a childish way for adults to behave.

As little as 10 years ago the majority would not have approved of David's actions.
Things sure have changed and we are clearly in the Apostasy.

Jesus asked a rhetorical question in Luke 18:8b -
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

And I have 1 more thing to say regarding this matter and all matters of Christian faith.
We need to check ourselves constantly in light of the Scriptures if we are to claim Jesus as our Saviour. And here is one I am always convicted by:

Jesus said in Luke 6 -

[24] But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
[25] Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
[26] Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

I say and repeat all the above will all love and tenderness as a of a follower of Jesus.
Non of what I say, do or quote is meant to be hateful, unkind or judgemental - if you feel convicted, uncomfortable or 'judged', then that is simply the Holy Spirit working on your soul. Please do not shoot the messenger(s).

God Bless and please do not hold any roots of bitterness towards anyone here who has spoken their mind. I know I won't.

It really puts a dampener on the very special & beautiful occasion of Gary & Missy's wedding that DJ, Mike and a whole lot of other people that visit this forum went to.

I know I won't.

johnny, can you please point out exactly what sin was commited in this video? can any of you ?

Please before someone starts flaming Johnny... he is just answering a question from someone legitimately asked.

So before someone else throws out a very overused and misquoted and taken out of context verse, I'll beat you to it:

"Those of you who are without sin, throw the first stone"

There... I said it. smile.gif

Of course, when I say it, am I holding myself to that same standard? When I tell someone "Judge not, less ye be judged", am I not in fact judging them for being judgmental and therefore am guilty of violating the very statement that came out of my mouth and want someone else to hold?

Uggg. The internet and a forum is totally not the right place to discuss these things. So easy to misinterpret someone's intention's... on both sides.

I agree. And both sides tried to drop it and both sides have brought it back up again.

MY LAST POST!

Johnny,

Now, regarding everyone here who is acting like - "hey, it's no big deal, we're just having some fun." As a father of 6 kids all I can say is what a childish way for adults to behave.

I have four children. I have to say, I did not realize that adulthood excluded having fun. Here's the deal;

I want to have lots of fun! I want to be able to cast away my inhibitions, play with my children as though I am on their level. I never want to feel that I cannot laugh like a little boy sometimes. Being old and dusty is not in my nature.

I am sure that those preaching scripture to me are great folks - it's just that it is so alien to me that it would be like my preaching the absence of any god in these posts.

Can you imagine the uproar that would ensue were I to preach disbelief? Well, to me that is the same as someone preaching scripture. I don't want it.

Anyway, I am sure you are all great folks, I hope that our different views don't cloud our relationships in this forum, and I will now bow out of this endless debate.

DJ, the video was great, I laughed hard, and keep up all the other good work. Other guys butt's - well, I will leave that one up to you. LOL

Best wishes to all,

Hugh

When you get there, give us a holla. Maybe we'll all come try to join. Until then, it's just a walk - some people see themselves further ahead, others are lapping them. Whatever. But nobody *here* is perfect, yet. Definitely not me, definitely not you Johnny.

Hugh, I can tell I'd like you very much in person. I applaud your genuine questions and Johnny's attempt to answer them. I know DJ wants this forum to be more than sharing pictures. It's a community and a family. It goes beyond sharing our pictures and goes into sharing our lives. That includes our fears, our business, our fun times, and even our beliefs. I like discussions where everything can be discussed logically and calmly. But Matt proofed a while ago with his questions about Christianity that that can be almost impossible to do.

I never said you can't have fun.
Many people think living a Christian life is 'boring' - but ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that fun is something I am about. It's all about the 'kind' of fun and what your definition of fun is.

And again, ask those who know me about if they see me as dusty or child-like. You'd be surprised.

But you are free to live as you wish - another gift from the Father.
But at some point he will want the soul he created for you back - and if you've ruined it (as WE ALL do when we sin and live according to our own rules) he is forced to toss it away.

And my passion for witnessing is to prevent people from that terrible end.

But again, you don't have to believe it and you are free to live as you wish.

Choose you this day whom you will serve.

I don't want to name names. But there are two ZEALOTS on this board who clearly cannot see the difference between a silly prank and perverse sexual gesture. Can Christians not watch The Jerk or Dumb and Dumber either?

We do not need to turn every thread into a sermon.

I think Mike and DJ would do well to turn the other cheek, so to speak.
